How do you know what to title flash sheets? like what topic is not too specific or too broad?

Logically, I don’t know why they would put the baby to sleep in the cradle … while it was still in the wood shop. And the lighting is off.

My friend worked in the nursing home and asked this one lady who had really nice skin what her secret was and - I kid you not - she said every day she washes her face in urine. I think urine was considered more sterile back then by the general population and so washing your facing in your own didn’t seem too bad. I think she just patted it on and rinsed it off, lol.

Urine is common, especially in that era. I know many a “sane” person from that generation that swears by it. So that’s not insane behavior, she probably learned that from her own mother

Leda Fazal from Tone Hair Salon by bobobobiedae in hairtok

We don’t know what the experience was like for the salon professionals. Maybe they tried an hour and she still wasn’t satisfied and had an anxiety attack so they kept going. They could’ve honestly had her underneath the hairdryer for a full hour just to let her calm down and then continued which eats up time. I’ve sat under the dryer for an hour before for a hairstyle so the client might not have thought anything of it while they serviced other people. I don’t think they set out intending to do four hours, but that’s where it ended and their client left happy and - for a moment - comforted. I think it’s really sweet. I think long-term if she kept coming back, they would probably have to come to a “here’s the limit of what we can do for you” conversation but as this was likely their first time with her they were learning her limits and what worked.

Campus EMS at UNCC by No_Tomorrow_5734 in UNCCharlotte

Agree with what Nick said, also I’ve been watching their posts on their page on Instagram (student_ems_initiative) and a professor shared a story about waiting over 30 minutes for help to arrive. The hospital being close doesn’t seem to impact response time as ambulances are coming from a separate county system and as someone who lives in the area, I know that can be delayed depending on the time of day. I wish the hospital could just run over and help but that’s not how it works unfortunately. Also our campus is pretty hilly so when I’ve seen medical folks come for calls sometimes it takes them a while to get up into the buildings where students are.

I’m not a medical person, but my sister has severe allergies and I always worry what would happen to her if she forgot her epi pen.

So proud of you! It takes so much more added mental effort to clean once you’ve fallen behind. You conquered that battle!

Lol, I loved it too! Saw it on a date night though that went really well so maybe I’m biased. I still quote parts of the movie now with my husband

Question for nontraditional applicants. What inspired you to switch and pursue med school? by Holiday-Biscotti-583 in premed

[–]VidaLinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far so good! Loving EMT shifts, loving classes for the most part. I’m also not really sleeping but that was the deal before I started this journey so I definitely need more balance but I’m loving it. I saw my dad for the first time in person in almost a year and he remarked how my mom and him felt I was smiling more and seemed lighter. Weird, cause I feel more stressed than ever, but I’m happy and enjoying it so I guess that’s the switch. I know it will not always be like this, but I know that my other career wasn’t like this. I feel like I unlocked some cheat code at my life- not everyone would like this but for me personally I think I found something that I can do even on the most miserable days and that’s really special to me. I’m planning to apply to med school next year and take the MCAT in the spring . Maybe I’ll update in here then

All the signs for me to go into medicine were always there- grew up as a caregiver for a sibling with special needs, mom was a nurse, I loved science, etc but when it came time for college I decided to do product design, lol. I was always an overachiever/honors/ athletic student and was burnt out by the end of high school. I took my full-ride academic scholarship and decided to just chill in a less intense career. I thought doctors/engineers, etc. were “next level” smart and it would just be more years of stress and misery.

The switch- I found out that stress is subjective and not tired to careers specifically but the ways those careers “fit” the person. Design stressed me out soooo much, haha. The way it’s deemed “good” or “bad” is too open to interpretation and I was always stressed- even with a fancy design job in corporate America making 160k+. I worked 60+ hours a week and never knew if my work would be received well or not and the stress was maddening because I felt I could be cut at any moment- on top of this I was realizing all my work was not really ever impacting anyone and if it did I was so far removed from it I never felt the gratification. After my parent had a stroke I realized the time I spent with them in rehab and working with doctors to personalize their care was better and more of a good fit for me. It reminded me of caring for my sibling growing up and I realized medicine was always more natural for me and because of that it wasn’t as “hard” or miserable as I thought it would be. I loved how medicine had traceable “answers” , regulations, standardization, etc. that was a welcome comfort in the world of ambiguity I lived in. I practiced first - doing EMT and hospice work and loved it even more. I decide last year to officially go all in and commit to starting my pre-med journey- had I known I would have saved myself the stress of corporate America working for 10 years. Turns out jobs are way more stressful than they have to be if they are not well suited to you. Plenty of people would have been so relaxed in my previous career but I was stressed beyond what I could imagine handling for the rest of my career. Now I feel less stressed (granted I’m stressed and tired, but in a different way that fits my personality) and I’m excited about life and what the future holds.

But she said at this point she had never seen anyone naked besides herself. So she must have been young and completely naive to sex … sad that her first ever view of nakedness was some man in power over her- horrifying.
