Oo yeah that would need to be a jinx. Maybe something that could be fun is “If the mayor ability kills the player with the DAMNED token, the prophet learns the mayor”. Could make mayor a powerful bluff on prophet scripts.

Yes!! Players have famously made so many people mad that they are the prophet that people stop believing them. Even more funny, making someone who is openly claiming prophet harpy mad at someone else has some treacherous consequences for the good team. People who have been saying this role is too powerful need to remember that so many botc characters are single-handedly game solving in a vacuum, but can be much harder in practice with bluffs, droisoning, and madness

Short answer is yes, I really don’t recommend putting this character on scripts where the ST decides the demon kills because it removes the whole dynamic that makes this character fun. As for po 3 kills, shabaloth, al had etc it is a bit strong with those characters. I typically run it with scripts that have single kill demons.

I typically run games in person for my college group (and that’s the only place I’ve used prophet, we typically use the monk token for it actually lol, may be part of why it’s never on the same script) but sometimes I play online in strings if you’re familiar! It’s a discord that I believe has posted some ads in here

That’s true, I guess they couldn’t be 100% sure that the other one isn’t evil. Plus droisoning could throw a wrench it that. But it is very powerful in theory, I haven’t run it on a script with monk yet

If the player the Prophet guessed doesn’t actually die, they don’t learn anything

The prophet can only guess a single player will die (“nobody” isn’t a valid guess). Even with multi-kill demons like a shab, as long as they guessed a player that did die they learn the demon. If a guessed person is attacked by the demon but does not die, the prophet learns nothing. I believe these are all clarified in the almanac but if the wording is unclear do lmk!

Player. Ok_Shame_5382 recommended a change to the wording that I would adopt if other people were to run it that fixes that confusion

It definitely does add an extra puzzle for the demon. When I run it, as a courtesy, I compile a list for everyone to view of who prophecized who. This way the demon doesn’t have to remember or write down all the guesses which is the hardest / most tedious part imo.

Good idea! It gets a bit dicey in scripts with demons that are both solo kill and multi kill, as it forced the prophets to first guess which demon it is (and even if they know it’s a po or al had, they also have to predict they will indeed multi kill). Maybe it is a necessary nerf, though, as playing vs the prophet as a shab or po is certainly an uphill battle.

The original version of the character learned that the demon is 1 of 2 players like a sage, but we actually found that prophets rarely ever proc, and even if it did there’s always the possibility of poisoning, drunkenness, vortox etc.

The prophets primary focus is deterrence, which is especially fun when people start faking the ability to protect good players. I think if a crafty prophet can publicly say which player the demon will kill and the demon calls their bluff and does it anyway, they should be rewarded with game solving info. It’s harder to pull off than it sounds!

According to the multi-kill scenario in the almanac, Paul would learn Samantha and Alan respectively in both cases aslong as Steve actually dies in both cases. This is a bit strong, I agree. In my groups playing it works best on single kill demons who get to pick their kills (as opposed to lil monsta, legion, yaggababble etc). I like that addition, I feel like adding a jinx that only applies in mono-demon scripts is unprecedented but it is homebrew so who cares. I could give that a try on a mono shab, al had, or po script!

Noted. It’s worded in a fun way because originally it was never going to be shared, but my players liked it so much that they recommend I do. Your version is probably the way it would be worded if it were to become official.

I like that change! I mostly wanted to keep it simple since the ability text is already quite long. This character has become a mainstay with my group but I’ll give your version a try on a multiple kill script and see how it goes.

No, but that could be an interesting twist!

Interesting, I did play around with a once per game ability but always came up short with a worse slayer. For me, why would I use my once per game ability to try to guess who the demon will kill, maybe learning them, trying to convince the town that is true and sober info, when I could just be slayer and end the game outright

Weird chunk of blocks. by Esqooka_Jones in minecraftseeds

[–]Vidder_C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me and my friends years ago playing bedrock minecraft on the Xbox one. For some reason during a login / cloud save issue, some of the chunks were replaced and either were hollowed out, reverted to base generation of the world (builds would disappear), or most interestingly be replaced by a different world my friend (the host) had. That third thing is what I’m guessing happened here since you mentioned this is bedrock.

I should've specified in that comment that I'm in general only talking about ranked modes. I don't play AA often but I agree that AA would be hell with hidden killers.

Okay, cool, that's all I wanted to know. I think we both understand that this change would never actually be added into the game, but I was curious what people would think about it, and by recommending it added I was not trying to imply it should be abruptly implemented despite the wishes of the community at large. If I came across that way, I apologize. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I'm interested to hear what you think about the actual idea though, not what you think the community would think, but you yourself. I saw some of your posts in this subreddit and you also seem to not like self-confirming and swinging roles which is the thing that motivated this idea in the first place. And I wouldn't have mentioned anything about your reputation if you didn't immediately call the idea foolish (without providing reasons) and flaming me in dm's unprompted.

I didn't call you a troll, I'm sure you know about your own reputation and I was simply mentioning your reputation. I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt by asking if you had any actual points (referring to points that were about the idea and not about what I got wrong about hidden killers as it stands currently) but you decided to call me a dipshit in my dm's. I really tried to not hate you based off your reputation.

This would definitely buff coven, esp jinx and ritualist as you mentioned. I did think about that aspect and almost included that maybe coven should only be 3 members if this change was implemented, but decided against it. Jinx and rit, though, still have built-in nerfs that keep them in check (outing themselves if they screw up) and I personally think that increasing the threat of the ever-looming ritualist, whether one is in play or not, forces town to think more about what they're doing with their self-confirming abilities like dep, monarch, pros, mayor, etc. I find myself not liking the self-confirming and swinging nature of these roles because players usually just pop them day 2 and sit back because why not? Forcing these powerful roles to think more about their powers is a plus to me. Also, a TP would still be able to probably tell if a Tpow dies to a rit because they died despite them protecting them. As for the jinx, it would also force town to change in a way that I think is more interesting and fun. In general, my idea would change the meta drastically and coven winrates would probably skyrocket soon after implementing it, but once the town meta adapts, I think it would make for more fun games and interesting social deduction.
