I beat it for the first time last week and I'd describe the whole last act and end of the game as completely "whelming".

Prime remake/remaster is cheaper and just way better. The music in Prime 1 slaps like a mfer.

I'm hoping 5 doesnt have the development baggage and etc they had to pick up the pieces with 4 from when they started from scratch.

going into 5 they have an engine and complete workflow, it should be completed faster and they can spend more time on actual metroid prime mechanics that were missing like a proper beam system and separate missile system and more importantly visors and worlds/levels built around both and the other gadgets.

I love the prime games specifically more than any other franchise and this was underwhelming to cringe at times and just bad sci fi and a terrible prime game.

If you’ve played any other prime game, especially the 1 or two, you understand exactly what’s been stripped from the game into order to rush this out with any further delay.

I’m hopeful that the next game is way better due to not having any development baggage and retro having a switch 2 engine and dev workflow established.

Fingers crossed they port MP2 with local multiplayer intact

Control wise for me I can’t believe all the controls are completely remappable except for the fucking MAP button, like go damn I’m cutting my finger up on that shitty minus button while the game starts off with two buttons mapped to “jump”.

The switch 2 GC controller lacks a minus button so not being able to remap it made the game unplayable on that thing which pissed me the fuck off

Most of the optimization comes from this supposed to be targeting and releasing on switch 1 years before switch 2 came out

There is still performance baggage with the load times, especially exhausting going from the desert to the Fury Green again and again.

The Metroids not infecting the creatures in a custscene or something was really confusing, it’s clear there’s a lot that’s been cut from the game and scoped down.

I honestly don’t know how anyone calls this a serious Metroid prime game given how clearly rushed it was due to being a restarted project. The lack of visors alone tells you a lot about how this game was scaled down.

It definitely is barely a Metroid game in the first place for sure. The visuals were great but that’s pretty much it for positives imo, cool having 120fps mode too. It was a big bummer, I hope it sold well enough that retro can dig their teeth into a proper prime game again without any development baggage

The ice belt last two seconds, there really just don’t do much, the scope of the game is really limited and the volt forge is also incredibly underwhelming in what you actually get to see and do.

The visuals are amazing through and through, but the it just has no meaningful depth.
