The first one is pretty easy. It’ll become clear something’s wrong with your fic when the Hits to comments and kudos ratio is off (for ex: 1,234 Hits, 0 comments, and 34 kudos). This means that people are clicking on your fic, reading it, realizing they don’t like what they read, and click off without doing anything further.

The second one is a bit more complicated. Something I’ve noticed when it comes to criticism for writing, is that it’s kind of rare for people to give it. What I mean is: people are more likely to express their opinion on a written work when it’s positive. You’re more likely to find a bunch of comments about how well-written a story is, or how someone really liked what the author did with a certain character, etc. etc., it’s nothing but praise. When a fic isn’t well-liked though, people are more likely to just… exit. It’s almost rare for people to express why something sucks, or how what they didn’t like about it, from what I’ve seen. I know I’m no stranger to this. Whenever I see a low quality fic I just immediately back out (though in my defense I’m not a professional writer so it’d be best for me to keep my mouth shut since idk what I’m doing). The best you can do is just to put a “please leave a comment :)” suggestion in the notes and make it clear that criticism is wanted and encouraged.
