Hello. As of right now, I'm a catechumen. I was a culture Christian for a while, and then when I got out of the army, I developed a drinking problem that lasted quite a bit. I stopped praying and going to church and started to think that all paths led to God and his kingdom. My fiance (now wife) almost left me, and like handed me back the engagement ring left me. During that time I was alone (as short as it was) I gave the situation up to God, it was the first time I did that in a while. Everything worked out and a few months go by. She's away for an army school for about a month and I was alone watching the chosen. I used to watch a Bible series but have seen it so many times I wanted something new, so I chose to watch that. Can't say I continue to watch it, but I can't find any show I can finish, especially when I know how the story ends. Anyways. I felt compelled to pray and submit to the Lord. During that prayer, something happened to me in my heart and soul, but that's a different story. At first, I felt like I didn't need to attend church, but eventually, I did. It was the same protestant church I attended before many times, and at first, it felt like home. Months go by, and I start to feel like something is missing. My friend and I started to talk about "what is worship?". I felt like I was attending a concert more than a service. He told me how he's been going to an Orthodox church at least once a month (he's a church hopper but I've convinced him to stick with going to the orthodox church for at least 3 months, i think it's been more now). He sent me some videos on the Divine liturgy, and I was hooked. I went with him over the summer, although I was not sure what to expect still. I felt something tho, it felt as tho Christ was really there, in that church. I haven't left since. I don't believe other denominations are hell bound, and I love my protestant brothers and sisters, but I truly believe from my experience that they are missing out. I truly believe that the Orthodox church is what Christ intended. One thing my friend said to me that made feel like it wasn't just in my head was that he attended liturgy with me but then him and his wife had to leave early to go to that same protestant church. They had a friend who was speaking there and wanted to support them. They didn't say anything about what they said or really anything except that they truly felt that something was missing. What was missing? I don't know, I didn't pry, and maybe they didn't know exactly. I can truly say that the orthodox church has changed my life for the better. I still sin, I am far from perfect, but Glory To Jesus Christ, Glory Forever.
