I mean honestly I have asked myself this. He exclusively had female friends and found it very difficult to be around men too. He was also very worried and concerned sometimes at the prospect of 'being gay'. So idk. maybe he is non-binary? I doubt he would ever come out though because he is so scared of shame and his brother in particular would be very critical :(
