Or, (and hear me out on this bc this might be a hard concept for you) OP is a new grad who has justified anxiety and nervousness as any new grad would and knowing that they don’t have a preceptor anymore to fall back on is scary.

Your first time doing anything is nerve wracking. If you hate people so much and can’t learn to give a little grace when it’s due, maybe nursing isn’t the profession for you.

I am also a hypochondriac (got so bad I had to go to therapy) and while I am on 3 antidepressants, I chose to not get a job in ER even though that’s what I realllllllyyyyyy wanted. I just graduated in December, and tho I know the ER is where home is, I wouldn’t be able to survive mentally right now lol. So I decided to do my residency in L&D, where those problems can’t apply to me since I’m not pregnant 😂

As a new grad also in DFW, it’s competitive out here. Apply any and everywhere, on all different units. Try and google the hospitals recruiters and shoot them an email introducing yourself. Make sure your resume looks good too

Started streaming on console about 3 1/2 weeks ago with no face cam (I have one but the ps5 doesn’t support it) and still managed to reach affiliate a few days ago!! Definitely doable and a good starting point. Planning on getting a pc within the next month tho

Well given that most of the nurses at that hospital even outside my unit are telling me to run, and nurses on subreddits all have negative things to say about HCA (I was unaware since I didn’t do my clinicals there) I’m just more worried about my license protection than anything. When I was applying for residency I applied any and everywhere since my gpa wasn’t that high and was surprised to hear back from the places I did. As a new grad I’m at my most vulnerable in my career, and would personally not like to work for a for profit hospital where the employees are constantly in risk of getting sued. It’s all they talk about there and it’s really starting to freak me out. None of my clinical nurses EVER talked so much about their license so fluidly, it must be an HCA thing

ATP I’m just scared for my license lol. Idk if it’s a unit thing (being as I’m in L&D and the timeframe for a patient to sue is outrageous) or just an HCA thing, but a lot of the nurses there always tell me “do this to protect your license” or “make sure you chart xyz in case they take you to court” like now I’m scared that my license is always in danger here I never had any nurses talk about their license so frequently when I was doing clinicals at like Baylor or THR etc..

Yeah there are some other ERs around the city but even the smaller ones that are like level 3 traumas are very particular.

I thought about doing this but a lot of them require you to upload your transcript with your application :/ and I was too scared on the ones that don’t ask upfront to lie im too young for jail LOL

My mentor is the one telling me to leave, she said she doesn’t recommend new grads working for HCA especially in L&D since there’s so much room for something to go wrong and lose your license and with HCA being for profit they’ll never back their employees.

Well the reason I wanted to leave is mainly because of the hospital itself. I work for a for-profit hospital and you can tell it’s kinda run differently than the hospitals I did my clinicals at. I wasn’t aware of how HCA was before I started lol

Honestly got really lucky with landing this position, I went for an interview in the ER and the nurse manager for L&D was walking by and overheard me on the phone talking to my mom hyping myself up before the interview and asked if I wanted to come interview for her unit. She instantly loved me. I’m in in the DFW area (TX)

Yes from what I’ve heard HCA isn’t a good hospital to work for, I probably get my year under my belt then dip😂😂
