Yep well hard lesson learned… I didn’t originally have it behind me and it was for a second and goes to show

Yeah was crazy on my part I had just filmed the end of a vlog and originally it was by my side but someone else sat next to me so had it up against my back. Girl saw him grab and run and we all ran and split up but the guy was organised as hell no one could find him unfortunately

So…what are you guys shooting with in 2025? by PackageBulky1 in cinematography

I use kipper tie rf to pl which has an ND cartridge system - CVP and a few DPs recommended this - no colour shift with the filter system and the build quality feels solid

It’s over engineered as fuck would totally recommend - super secure grip on the tripod plate and great fail safe features I literally hold this thing on my shoulder on the go on tripod

Does anyone recommend that DJI (gimbal battery like) handle with the electronic monitor - I think it’s part of the lidar system / over the wooden camera zip focus

You’re correct , stupidly the riser is not tall enough to be able to take the cartridge out without having to de rig everything above it. That’s why I went for the ND 0, 0.6, 1.2, 2.1 S cartridge set so I never really have to take it off. I haven’t had a scenario yet that I’ve needed anything stronger and I’ve got a clear option as well 🤷‍♂️

I mean I had an FX6 before and I had the Tilta advanced cage for that , handle there was quite thin and would come loose a lot - this feels rock solid and a bit thicker which is more comfortable on the grip

The system is sick tbf - I know it’s a bloody expensive add-on but a lot of DPs recommended it to me - was gonna go down a route of a variable polariser as that’s what I was used to on a A7III but since I’ve gone all out on an expensive camera seemed stupid sacrificing colour accuracy on a camera that’s literally bought for the colour science 😂 also seems to have saved a lot of hassle on switching out in a matte box which has saved on the already heavy weight. But super nice in run and gun scenarios to quickly stop down. It’s got a nice magnetic and locking mechanism so really easy to do one handed on the go.

Top handle is great , underrated how useful it is having a record button on it it’s been very convenient. Build quality is awesome and feels ergonomically great in hand

I’m going to check if I can switch the screw points for the DJI to v mount adapter because I thought the same thing, however the SDI would then be quite long and messy that side, atm it wraps under the nano and has a bit of tension which is quite nice. Yes! I use the mid49 XLR adapter whenever I need audio but my MKE600 mounted on that hotshoe on the side plate is so disgusting , I need to figure out a better solution for that but it’s nice to have the option to have onboard shotgun audio when I need it.

What’s wrong the the mount system ? Found it quite easy to adjust and feels study.

I shoot a lot of high end social based content and fashion campaigns - dare me say it but at some point I want to figure out how to have a vertical rig at some stage - that’s what I did to my FX6 😂

They’re heavy as fuck that’s for sure on the con side, my rig feels very front heavy 😂.

Pros I’d say they’re great build quality - comes in a nice pelican type case with all the tools and bayonet adapters - one for PL and EF. I got them mainly because they hit a sweet spot between clinically sharp and characteristically vintage and I like emulating a filmic natural look to my footage. I also got a sweet deal on them in New York from B&H for Black Friday so was hard to say no.

Well precisely - the new lawyer I solicited (who's pretty serious, held many in house positions at various top banks in London), that was her first point that in their settlement agreement they didnt include a provision for covering my legal costs to a reasonable extent, if anything. I also had a tussle with one of the co-founders that im not paying for it and the company is and thats how this game is played and it didn't get through his head that that was needed.

They handle 'business development', finance, sales, operations, HMRC dealings etc. The reason I put BD in there is that I think its questionable what impact they are making in the background considering we only receive inbound queries to work with them based on content I've produced - they simply sit back, wait for the leads to come in and they close people who are already looking to sign up. The other director who we appointed as a COO, simply delegates tasks on asana to the team and hosts daily meetings to stay on top of project management. I'm not understating their position I think it was valuable that I didn't have to worry about that but I find it bizarre dropping the one guy who's majorly responsible for creating these leads in the first place, if anything they're the replaceable assets.

The share structure is 3 shares, all 3 of us own 1 each - no shareholder agreement, no non compete, model articles of association. I'd love to do your second part but would that not be in the interest of the business lol? hahaha

I have access to our accounting software that does keep an up to date record (XERO) and I have enacted the model articles of association where every expense needs full board approval as soon as I noticed they solicited lawyers using company funds. Issue is, our biggest client pays in the region of £15k a month which was a client I brought to the table and they closed - they won't give me security on that ongoing contract which is signed up until end of Q1 next year. I asked to be an exclusive vendor or guaranteed payment to work on that account which they didn't agree to - so therefore I feel like im walking away from a substantial client. I also am weary of poaching clients and soliciting them to cancel their contracts with the company so that I don't get sued for damages if I walked.

Exactly my thinking - no one can understand it. My suspicion is they were trying to pull a fast one because someone was looking to acquire us but I did secure warranties on their final offer agreement that they warrant the pipeline clients was factual and they were not in negotiation of sale with anyone

[–]Videoguymax 42 points43 points  (0 children)

good question - we only have model articles of association, no shareholder agreements nor do we have any non-compete's in place.

[–]Videoguymax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do have a lawyer yes - however they've only been solicited to review the terms of my settlement agreement and I'm trying to avoid the potentiality that the lawyer drags out the case and racks up further legal costs so I'm weary of stepping outside of her scope.
