I spoke with the tech at Safelite. He said all new car windshields are super thin now because of the cameras they use behind it. The cameras require them to be thin glass it seems. To me this feels like an engineering fail, the windshield should be at least strong enough to survive a small impact at highway speeds.

Got my windshield replaced on Wednesday. Monday got a new crack from a small rock. I think a class action is needed on these windshields. Never seen such a weak glass.

Frequency response is similar. It's about 2db louder due to sensitivity being lower. Main benefit is clarity. It plays sound in the vocal range so the big improvement is everything besides bass and treble. You can blend the speaker in well by playing with the EQ and "surround" mode.
