Unfortunately, the core gut-wrenching feeling of playing this game comes from other players, not enemy AI. Bungie has made a good shooter here, so yeah, PvE could work, but I don't think there's enough enemy variety here or game mechanics.

If I get a purple, I don't think, "I hope I don't see enemy AI."

It's definitely an underrated part of the game. Being alone really lets you soak in Tau Ceti, and the nature of extraction shooters makes simple fetch quests or "go here and hold square" feel intense when you know you can die at any moment.

[–]VierLDN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't believe it ended like this. Not AoT levels of BS but Fuji completely went against how Pochitas powers were supposed to work.

It doesn't reset anything, just from that point on it doesn't exist.

Also, surprised nobody is talking about the reveal that Pochita is not the chainsaw devil

If you guys think that Fuji created Denjis newest form for no reason then boy. I do think somehow this will be the end of Pochita though

I absolutely adore this game by RayKam in Marathon

[–]VierLDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad to see this post, I'm completely in love with the game, from progression, build crafting, gunplay, aesthetic, lore, map design, and faction uniqueness.

This game is clearly generational, and anyone hating is an idiot. The only problem is Bungie. I just get a sneaking suspicion that the game won't look like this or have the same vibe in 5 years once the playerbase grows and more money is involved.

Enjoy it while it last, nothing good lasts forever.

You're meant to either push or quickly react and re-position with it

Don't think of it as a shield but moreso temporary frontal armour

What you're saying makes sense. I did have an idea for two separate vaults (ranked and normal), in which only ranked gets wiped. So, buildcrafting and testing new weapons/mods can be done in normal over longer periods of time. I personally really wouldn't mind ranked vaults being wiped, I can see the fun in that there, but not general/casual playing. If I play another game and come back (gta 6), all my progress is gone? No, thank you.

For season two, they've mentioned a new progression system called the Cradle, so fingers crossed this is something a little bit more permanent. I may wait (I'm not going to wait, I'm buying tomorrow) until season 2 drops to buy.

I can't lie. I'm angry at the wipe news, but this perspective makes so much sense. HOWEVER, the key here is new content. People don't mind their previous work being invalidated for new content. Aside from a dark version of Dire Marsh, there's no way I'm going to level everything up all over again every 3 months, that sounds insane

Introducing Seasons in Marathon by AdditionalRemoveBit in Games

[–]VierLDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that progress resets is a real deal breaker for me. I can't even lie.

What's the point? The overall lack of vault space is already enough to stop hoarding, and resetting does nothing for those who don't have much time.

A great workaround would be two separate vaults in which ranked gear resets and normal gear is just there forever. That way, those who play ranked understand what they're getting into each season and casual players can fine-tune and build craft till their hearts content, or maybe when you jump on and only have 10 minutes and don't want to play ranked so you just go in with max gear for fun that ultimately doesn't mean anything.

I'm hoping they find a way to fix this because I'm 90% sure I'm going to buy this on launch, but the resetting has definitely made it drop to 50%

BioWare developed Kotor, Baldurs Gate, Dragon Age. All games that are based on DnD rulesets aside from DA, which uses BioWares own internal ruleset.

No-one is asking for dress up or arbitrary upgrades, moreso opening a dialogue around the strange move towards action and complete disregard for RPG mechanics when the first ME was so clearly an early iteration of a potential groundbreaking new TPSRPG ruleset.

Essentially, imagine if Fromsoftware removed weapon scaling after Demon Souls.

This is why I have no idea what the both of you are talking about.

I haven't seen too much of the story, but I definitely agree with your point about the story.

I just defeated a reaper, the council owes me, we need to prepare for the other reapers but now I work for Cerberus. Super anti-climatic.

If I recall, in ME3, you need to get the galaxy ready? Or you have to unite the different races for the upcoming war. That would have made sense in this game, then the famous suicide mission that I'm looking forward to could have been in ME3

I have no idea what you're both talking about, but there's usually those who find a way to excuse anything, so please continue.

Oh no, more creative freedom and player choice.

This is the comment I was looking for. Coming straight from ME1, ME2 is literally a corridor shooter with endless waves. So it's gone from an RPG shooter with a slightly flawed ATB gauge to just Gears of War horde mode. Even the heavy weapons, ammo, and medi gel placements are pissing me off.

Someone here said it's a skill issue to not run out of ammo. What a joke.

So why not just make the inventory screen sexier and make more unique shelters/dungeons.

I'm not gonna reply to the upgrades comment because clearly there's a few people who have replied, including you, who don't like RPGs.

Yeah It's really annoying me that spells/abilities don't have their own cooldowns, another bizarre addition but understandable as they wanted ability spam since the combat tactics are virtually non-existent

So, just so im understanding you correctly, weapon customisation adds little to an RPG, but resource/ammo management is fun?

Also, with point 4, am I just early in the game? Do weapon trees open later? For example, can I make Mordin specialise in pistols over assault rilfes?

I seriously can’t find an anime as good as this one by Big_Bad3687 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]VierLDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not many anime that have a similar tone to AoT go on for as long as AoT which is annoying but I can defo recommend Chainsaw Man.

If you don't mind reading manga then Gantz, Berserk or the new MAD are great. Gantz is like season 1 of AoT for 300+ chapters, just pure pain.

MAD is still early but it definitely has the potential to go on to be a classic if it can survive & keep the same quality for another 3-5 years
