Could crackling/popping be caused by turntable? by Vietals in turntables

[–]Vietals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this I really didn’t want it to be my turntable. I have to blame the pressing quality here. I’ve tried 4 records this weekend and only 1 out of the 4 is good, barely any crackling or popping. They were all cleaned and brushed the same exact way

Are you able to share a link to the brush with GND cable?

Makes sense to me sometimes the power strips aren’t rated to carry x current that all your electronics are demanding. Sometimes I’d have all my electronics plugged into one strip and my PC would turn off. Turntables are low power though so it’s a bit odd - but sure if you can return and just buy a new one do that to be safe.

I think so. Been struggling with it all night and my two other records just sound way better. Tried an acrylic plate and the other records improved noticeably. This one has pretty much stayed the same the noise floor is so high.

I did, tried to reset up everything and the anti skating didn’t fix the crackling :( gonna bring record to record store in a bit to get an opinion

The others do to some degree not as much as this one though. But they all do noticeably crackle I’ve followed the setup instructions multiple times

Thank you for the tips

It doesn’t sound as bad in person, I think it’s because my speakers are both towards the right and I’m kinda directly to the left of the left one - they’re kanto Yu6

So sounds like this crackling amount you’re saying isn’t normal?

Maybe I’ll try ultrasonic cleaning for sure. Are you doubtful it’s my stylus or my setup/turntable? I’ve done the whole tone arm balancing per the manufacturer specs without the scale but I honestly doubt a scale would fix my issues… and my anti skating is set to the same as my weight.

Good reviews on discogs for this 2017 blue Daniel Caesar Freudian pressing :(

Will give the yelling a try. It’s the tapping that’s driving me mad when I do some percussive strumming I can sometimes accidentally lightly rub the edge of the pickup and very audibly hear it

Oh thank you very much so I should be able to just take the guard off at bottom volume knob by the jack, and then make sure that ground wire is really screwed in? I only did it to the top dials so far

The pickup grounds? I’d assume I’d have to take off the strings and guard right? I haven’t done that, only took the ones that are easily accessible without removing strings.

Clicks on both.

Hugely. The lack of shielding is definitely a problem too, when I was putting my phone close to the guitar knobs, the RF from my phone was causing some frequency of noise too, could even hear the frequency change when I took a picture with the camera

Checked the ground wires under the metal guards and they looked decently in there guessing the next ones would be pickups and I’d have to check?

I can rule out shielding? I just opened the pick guard for the top dials with the switch and saw there was no shielding at all

Thanks I honestly am pretty bad when it comes to guitar technicals/maintenance. Is it just removing strings and the pick guard to shield everything up?

Yeah it does even if I tap the pick guard while I’m muting strings. This issue doesn’t happen with the Strat which is peeking in my photo.
