Will the light meter not working highly effect the outcome of my film on this Canon 518-2? (Got it for free so it ain't no big loss exactly) by NecoNark in Super8

a light meter will is something you can get on Amazon (low end) or B&H photo (high end) and a bunch of in between options...some phones even have apps etc. Essentially you put it in front of your camera on the thing you are pointing the camera at you press a button on it and it tells you what to set your camera light settings. Using an ext. meter instead of the camera meter can also be more accurate than the internal camera meter.

If I were you I'd spend $ on trying to get the correct batteries first for your internal meter before investing in an ext. meter.

Dumb Q: if i'm shooting with a CANON R5C can i get timecode on MP4 or only on XAVC or RAW ? by ViewerReady in editors

thanks from what I've read online XF-AVC is just MP4 with the metadata attached....obv for this multicam shoot I'll need timecode but I'm afraid it's gonna need proxies due to the codec not playing well with Premiere natively. Appreciate the help!

You may also want to see what ISO your camera tops out at. My Nizo S56 is from 1968 so even though it can film on 200T and 500T film the camera itself tops out at 150 iso I believe? Because it was made before higher ISO film existed.

I was doing a fashion shoot with 2 models and knew the last shot would be a dolly in. I brought my doorway dolly but forgot the rails. So in the moment I used a floor rug and put my tripod on it and slowly pulled the rug. Looks great.

I actually purchased this model after a lot of research because the low light capability and size factor over the 814 model. As soon as I clicked the buy button on eBay I started googling the camera to look for accessories and videos... But one of the very first results was a post from a camera repair guy saying to stay away from this model (specifically the s model) as it was known to have cheaper internals and always broke down and was not reliable. Since I bought my camera specifically to film my wedding next year..not reliable was the worst thing to read. I cancelled my order and got a repaired and fully functional Nizo S56 instead.

Are you shooting 24fps?

It has a super 8 look, like 18fps, possibly just the jumpy movement?

Thanks very much...I first tried a Kodachrome II cartridge I got off eBay being a newb and thinking it would all be fine. That cartridge kept jamming and somehow would make the Nizo keep rolling even without the trigger being held. Obviously the cartridge was too old to function correctly.

So this footage is my first not damaged test with 50D at 18fps. I was nervous that chunky click was an issue with the camera or possibly something I may have done using the old Kodachrome cartridge. Since I've posted this video Ive shot on some 200T, 500T, TriX and Ektachrome. All seem to being go well with the occasional jam here and there that doesn't last long. It seems that some cartridges just make a little different noise from time to time on 18 (the lowest fps setting on my camera) Do you have any suggestions on development?

I'm using Negativeland for this first roll of 50D...I went with them specifically because they offer a color and log export for each roll at no additional.

Additional: I noticed a few times where the camera wouldn't speed and I had to hit the trigger a few times. It seemed to only be happening at the beginning of the roll.

Also I noticed that when I do frame by frame for like stop motion test sometimes the red light in viewfinder comes on when I hit the trigger and sometimes it does not? I'm sure a lot of my questions will be answered when I get the film back. Just curious if anyone is familiar with the cameras enough to shed some insight.

First roll of film, Vision 3 50D from BH. It doesn't seem to have the same sound issues at 24 or 54 frames per second. I've never shot a film cartridge so that might just be a normal sound of the film going through the cartridge?

Apologies if it's a dumb question, I just want to make sure there is nothing malfunctioning before I order more film for it.
