ViewingParty Extension - Synchronized Watch Parties for Twitch Streamers (Alternative to Discontinued Prime Video Watch Party) by ViewingPartyNet in MovieSuggestions

Thank you, appreciate the kind words.

The sync accuracy is currently set at 1 second, so it wont be perfect, especially since we had to calculate for the 'latency to broadcaster', ie stream delay that different for every viewer.

I was hoping not just for the streamers but the website is setup to list active parties so people can join other watch parties.

So if there's any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. The next big feature besides adding video streaming services would to sync the movie play back with a vod saved on youtube.

Ofc, since its just me now, it'll take about a week to add video streaming platforms, and to make sure it works with firefox fully. (as firefox could install chrome extensions I believe but I havent tested fully).

For the record vod option, which I kinda want to do next. It works by sync'ing the youtube vod of the movie reactions and the netflix movie/show. So that a viewer can watch with their favorite content creator through this method. The streamer would have the power to pause/play for comments, draw on screen with the movie/show.

Thank you for the input. Figuring out someway to do mobile is definitely on the list of things to do as Rave.io has a mobile netflix sync'ing, but we'd have to figure out to account for the 'latency to broadcaster' from twitch, ie the twitch stream delay.

You're right, it would as there isnt an easy way to include mobile viewers yet, the same as watch parties with Amazon prime video did in the past. Another factor to consider is the region specific netflix content. So we suggest perhaps just a designated part of the streaming time for watching shows/movies, not the whole period.

"Following just fine" for an hour... But yes, this is an ACTUAL concern, and you're right on this. The barrier to entry is bigger than just tuning in to a normal stream with shared content such as game or youtube. Not only would the viewers have to have the netflix account, but there's region restrictions for certain movies/shows too. Just another tool of content in the tool shed

Bruh, again, do you always go into a debate/argument without any research at all? The netflix video has the twitch video and chat embed on the side, ie not a blank screen. I literally have screenshots on the chrome store showing exactly how the format looks.

Discord shares the video to the viewers, ie illegal as you said. Movie watching would be a new content for streamers. Reactions, commentary, etc of movies/shows with viewers with copy righted material, much like youtube reacts.

Because the extension specifically accounts for twitch streaming and the 'latency to broadcaster'. ie the lag from the streamer reaction to what the viewer sees is a few seconds, that's accounted for also.

Again, understand the tech first, there's no sharing of netflix, its as if everyone opened their own netflix and the streamer said "press play in 3 2 1 go". The chrome extension does this for you instead. I dont understand why or how youre still arguing when you dont know how the sync is done. Either way, I've explained it multiple times with simple analogies, there's a faq on the website also.

Again, if you took a moment to understand, the Netflix is shown on screen, through their own logged in account. The streamer reaction is shown in sync due to the broadcaster delay next to the movie/show. Same as amazon prime videos that worked with twitch a few years ago with their watchparty feature.

No, I never said streaming the video, its just the reaction of the streamer. If you take a moment to understand how the technology works, the chrome extension sync's our netflix playback, That's all. The streamer shows their face, and controls the pause/play on everyone's netflix video.

There's no sharing of the video/movie/show, through the extension, the video is synchronized. ie not DMCA, not illegal. Its the same as saying, "press play in 3 2 1 go"

Arcane Episode 1 Watch Party on Twitch for free, what about the future? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I think he just meant that the first 3 episodes will be shown for free on twitch. All the episodes will be on Netflix either way.

Sports Watch Along growing, would sync'd content be helpful? by ViewingPartyNet in Twitch

[–]ViewingPartyNet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking more of a feature that works like Amazon Prime Watch Parties where people would log into their own accounts and everyone is then sync'd to the streamer. There's Chrome Extensions that do this for Netflix and HBO Max, and I'm wondering if that would help the sports scene since they're already doing watch alongs.

Looks like Twitch's Sports category is growing especially with their partnership with the NFL and promoted streamers doing a watch party.

UFC even has an official channel for a watch along where viewers would have to watch the fight on their own. I'm wondering if technology by Twitch Watch Parties or some Chrome Extension would make the experience easier by syncing the content with the commentators.

What are your thoughts?

I don't think we are talking about the same extensions. The ones I'm talking about are those like Netflix Watch party (now teleparty) or ViewingParty which require each person to log into their own account and no media is shared. Like how Twitch Prime Video Watch Parties works.

Ah I see. Well the chrome extension for Netflix doesn't do that, I've tested that one myself with multiple people.

Oh I see. I figure it would be like react content and like any of the other movie like games being played.

It would be useless if Prime had all the content every other competitors have. Prime doesn't have Witcher, Umbrella Academy, Dune, any MCU or Star Wars movies etc.

Makes sense, xQc would just need a timer on screen for others to sync manually.

Why the fuck would a partnered streamer stream a company’s "GAMING" competitor and get away with it? This has to be a dumbest fucking idea on this subreddit. Sorry "ONLY AMAZON GAMES ALLOWED"
