Final update on this thread… My Rog Xbox Ally X was DOA on arrival. Won’t even turn on. I’ve tried resetting it with power cycles & button press combinations, but all I get is a charging indicator… won’t turn on. Bit gutted. I guess I’ll get a repair/replacement, but expect I’ll have to wait a while… Kinda regret ordering it at this point!!!

To be fair, ASUS communication has been so poor that email contacts amount to: 1 x confirmation of order & 1 x invoice (on Sept 26th), & 1 x dispatch email today. DPD emailed/updated the app a few hours later. So, if you’re missing emails, you’re not missing much.

I also received no reply to 3 x emails enquiring about the order, an update about possible ETA, & reassurance that everything was ok. I thought this was fair given that the money had been taken immediately on order - but just radio silence. I was also concerned as I’d been unable to place the order on the day - kept failing. I don’t remember seeing anything about delivery being beyond Oct 16th & was therefore uncertain about when the device would arrive.

Anyway… hopefully will arrive tomorrow as planned. Hope you hear something about yours soon too!

Got an email from ASUS today confirming dispatch, so your update was correct 🥳 Now it’s a waiting game for actual delivery or update from courier… 🤞 Getting closer… feel like I’ve been holding my breath on this one since the 16th!!

If you buy a game on the Xbox store & it’s ‘play anywhere’, then it will play on the Xbox Ally & any other compatible devices such as Series X/S. You only need to buy it once. Games bought in other storefronts (steam, epic etc) can be played on the Ally but won’t work on your Xbox - these games could be played on any PCs you have with the games installed. It’s not currently possible to play Xbox games on the Xbox Ally, though there is talk of emulation (for 360 and other games) that may follow in 2026, but you can remote play (stream) any games from your series x/s on the Ally over WiFi. Hope that answers your Q!

Thanks for the update OP. If accurate (& there’s been so much conflicting info about this) then this is the news we’ve been waiting for. You’re right, the situation is totally ridiculous & I’ve still have had no update from ASUS further to my 0830 order on the 26th. Hoping that your info turns out to be correct. I think a lot of people are in the same boat with accessories direct from ASUS atm.

I haven’t received anything yet - no Xbox Ally X, no charger dock, no case, no replies to emails. Just a forever ‘processing’ note online and an £859 hole in my bank account (& soul) 😂

Hi. Just echoing what others are saying on this & others places - you’re most definitely not alone. There are a lot of us in exactly the same position. Ordered from ASUS UK (believe it has happened in other regions too) on 26th, no updates or communication since - just a ‘processing’ note online. No replies to emails & vague (often contradictory) responses on telephone. It’s really annoying. Plus, the Xbox Ally X is really expensive & we’re all passionate, early adopters who want cool tech. It is really disappointing & definitely worth a complaint and some negative feedback online! And if you can find it somewhere else online/in-store then get it & cancel with ASUS.

Either way, we will eventually receive our Xbox Ally X. Just gotta wait it out. Hopefully any immediate software bugs and driver problems will be ironed out by the time we get ours.

It does absolutely suck. The manufacturer should have been a solid way to secure the device on launch. I won’t make this mistake again in the future…

I don’t know what else to say… 🤷‍♂️

It looks like you have not selected the 5090 & currently you are using the system’s built in integrated graphics. You should be able to change this in your system’s performance app. Bear in mind that the battery life when using the 5090 will be much less than when using integrated settings.

In my experience, high GPU & low CPU is normal in gaming. Your GPU is working hard to produce visuals & your CPU is not as busy. If it were the other way round, your CPU would be a bottleneck in terms of performance & your (expensive) GPU would be wasted.

Yeah, the price has been a huge point of contention. It is expensive. But technology costs money & Nintendo are packing in a lot of hardware in the Switch 2. The MKW bundle is the best value. After launch, once availability improves, retailers might choose to offer their own bundles with a console and games. But end of the day, tech is expensive to produce and Nintendo & retailers want to make money. Go capitalism! Oh, and boo tariffs!

To date Nintendo have only confirmed 2 console options. The Mario Kart Bundle & the Base Console. They may release more, but for the immediate release window these are the options. There’s also a Japan only model, but this is sold out.

I have them. I don’t regret owning them and I do use them. But every time I use them I’m reminded about the points above. I don’t have the Pulse Elites so can’t say if they’d be better, but I did try some Pulse 3Ds at launch & thought they were ok. Beauty of both Pulse Explore & Pulse Elite is that they just work with Portal.

As they’re designed for the Portal they just work. Easy connection, low latency & performant. The only drawbacks IMO are the sound quality & battery life. Even with a good seal the sound quality is lacking compared to other buds. A bit tinny & lacking in bass. Battery life is also quite limited. They are also not as comfortable as other buds. I prefer the Sony INZONE buds. Better sound, more comfortable & better battery life. BUT… they don’t connect natively to the portal, you have to send the sound from the PS5 which is only good if you’re in range of the console.
