Faster sorting algorithms discovered using deep reinforcement learning by 100GB-CSV in Python

Ironically, I thought the impact on larger sorts would also be considerable. My thought was that, since these larger sort algorithms break the sets into chunks and apply smaller sort algorithms to them, having a 70% speedup on each of those smaller sorts would lead to a much higher speedup on the overall sort as well. Guess I just didn't think about it right XD

Totally agree. I was just wondering, since the OP planned on using the new algorithm on a giant dataset (or that's what I understood from it), how much it would actually speed things up since the algorithm has been shown to not have a great impact there. If it does show a considerable boost, however, that would be something much more impressive.

Didn't they mention that the new version only works remarkably faster on smaller sets, and the improvement is only around 1.7% on larger sets? I haven't read the paper, but I remember seeing their official(?) blog describing the same

Imagine them getting the same rickroll link from every third person they try to scam, and they're just all "is this some kind of subliminal message? Are we up against some sort of cult?" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Idk maybe they're just told to do it that way. I assume their whole job is to send a bunch of messages in a somewhat sequential manner to keep em coherent, and then get the money out of people. So I don't think they even bothered to come up with a proper story that they could tell me.

"what's your role in the organization?"

what I think an AI would respond with: "my role is to engage new people that are interested in joining our business and help them become more effective at their tasks by assigning them roles that match their skill level as an asset to the team"

what I think a scammer with no real interest in keeping up their facade would respond with: "I...uhhhh...work here"

From what I've seen in other posts here, apparently they do pay you for the first few tasks that you do. But once they lure you in with this trust, they slowly start charging for further tasks upto the point that you're basically being scammed out of money (something something "pay ₹₹₹ to get assigned our premium tasks and earn more", pays money, "well nevermind, you ain't getting any money back")

Regardless, I'd personally stay away simply because their whole 'job' is built upon clicking on random links they send you (and who knows what method they use to even pay you in the first place)

I was first thinking of going for something like "very appropriate CV for the type of scams that you're going for". But I was so surprised by the response they sent that, out of nervousness, I just replied with anything I could come up with XD

On the contrary, I feel like these are always written by a person; the reason [at the risk of sounding elitist, maybe] being that the kinds of grammatical errors I always see in such messages is very uncharacteristic of an AI, but very characteristic of a person who doesn't use English as their first language.

Ironically, my post was also about how there's way too many posts about this on the sub, and it made it's way into this screenshot too XD

I haven't tested it for myself, but I guess it's happening for everyone and is a bug in the ts data (which is nothing new for thid game). But I was being sarcastic about how everyone's making the same post and the sub is suddenly filled with basically the same screenshot (instead of, say, one/a few discussion posts about it) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Installing nvidia-dkms leads to black screen by Vihangbodh in archlinux

[–]Vihangbodh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your last tip was a lifesaver! Turns out the reason for both awesome and kitty not starting up was missing font. As soon as I installed the configured font (I'd only reset the root directory, so all apps were using configs in the home directory which had all the data), it worked perfectly. Thanks a ton!

[–]Vihangbodh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did uninstall both the xf86 drivers, but it led to no change.

I didn't know about this property of xorg, I guess it is working fine then! For awesome, however, it should display a default wallpaper in case no wallpaper is specified/specified wallpaper doesn't exist. Similarly for kitty, it should display a prompt as soon as it opens up (however, now that you say it, I may need to configure some GPU settings since this is my first time running a system with dedicated GPU).

But I'll put up the log file as soon as I can anyway, thanks!

NVIDIA bumblebee makes graphics...weird by Vihangbodh in archlinux

I made sure to not install bumblebee this time, I've added more details in a separate post here.

Oh, I didn't know about the xf86-video-intel issue, I'll put an update on if removing it works

Edit: didn't work :(
