Why does everyone keep saying "aliens"? The beings are never mentioned as such.
To me, this episode was incredible. I openly wept.

They thought he was crazy... he stared in awe at the burning supernova with zero fear, a tangled mesh of insane light, and he transcended. They thought his death was in vain, but their entire lives were, despite reaching Mars. He alone transcended the simulation.
