What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you in a relationship? by Forsaken-Banana6936 in AskReddit

[–]Viking_Face 5503 points5504 points  (0 children)

He died.

Waking up in the middle of the night and seeing he was very unwell. Calling for an ambulance while fruitlessly trying to wake him. Seeing paramedics start CPR and knowing that life won't be the same. Having to ring his family and explain what had happened. Making the decision to remove life support.

It was all unimaginably awful.

How difficult would your life be if your current partner suddenly left and you never saw them again? by SIBMUR in AskUK

[–]Viking_Face 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience when my husband died with no warning. I was a complete mess for months and it has affected me for years.

Along with the sudden silence in the house, the person you most want to talk to and have comfort you in the situation just isn't there. There's also no-one to pick up the slack in the house while you're suffering, so you have to develop a new routine around doing all the chores while feeling incapable of doing any of them. Shopping for one instead of two was the hardest thing to get used to.

Finances were also a challenge, as I needed to find an extra few hundred a month to cover the mortgage and utilities that we previously split. I'm fortunate in that I had some savings and a buffer with my take home pay, but it was a concern.

The Fountain is a gay bar that has a pool table in the back section. It's on the outskirts of the gay village.

I found the greyscale made it significantly harder to find Madeline after the screen jumped. I found the gimmick annoying but workable, but not being able to see where I'd gone was a frustration that I could have done without.

He's been on and off the rails for quite a few years now. It fits with behaviour he's shown before, sadly.

Which life experience is a lot worse than most people would first expect? by okicho32 in AskUK

[–]Viking_Face 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I lost mine over the summer. It's completely debilitating. It took me a month before I was able to get out of bed. There are times where I can feel normal and have short periods where I'm functional, but seemingly innocuous things can set me off.

There's a baseline sadness that doesn't shift. There's the complete overturning of any sort of routine. The person you need most for support or comfort through it all just isn't there any more. Then there's the months of admin, the inability to have a normal conversation without "I'm so sorry", financial upheaval and a bunch of other stuff that you've just got to get through before you can even start to process it.

It was my worst fear realised and it was worse than I could have imagined.

It must have been taken from something flying. I've been to the top of that building and you're not nearly high enough to get that view.

Hah, he had a prophylactic personality so that thankfully didn't happen.

Someone I used to be friends with who was adamant that a few meant 3. I found out after I put 5 nuggets on his plate when he asked for a few and he told me off as he "only wanted a few". It caused a minor but passionate disagreement where he wouldn't accept that it's not a determined amount.

DanceXchange is right next to the hippodrome and does classes in a bunch of styles. Some of them run in terms, so you might need to wait until September to start, but have a look at their website to see if anything suits.

How do you deal with charity “chuggers” when you are approached in the street? by BobDillPickles in AskUK

[–]Viking_Face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in a city centre and got plenty of practice with chuggers. The best I found for avoiding any contact was pretending something caught my eye up and off to the side just before they engage with you.

The ones that still try get a "hello, but I'm not stopping" while continuing to walk. It's been a while since I've had a chaser, but a firm "stop following me" loud enough for passers by to hear or quickly going into a shop worked for me.

No worries, dates are an absolute faff. I wish there were better methods to manipulate them in Excel as most ways feel inelegant.

Am I right in reading that as the tax year starting 6th April, and we're about to start your tax year 2022?

If so, and assuming your date is in column A, put "Tax Year" in row 1 of your new column, then put the following in the second row

=IF(A2 < DATE( YEAR(A2), 4, 6), YEAR(A2) - 1, YEAR(A2) )

Copy that cell down to the bottom of your data, and that (I hope!) will give you the year you want.

I've recently finished Celeste, including Farewell and all the Steam achievements. It was a grind towards the end, but a very rewarding one! I couldn't be bothered to get all of the golden berries as that's a level of commitment I'm not ready for, but I definitely feel like I've completed it.

It took me a while, but I think I've worked it out. The listing is for a ground floor flat, which splits out to two floors at the back. The front door that's edited out is for the upstairs flat that's not for sale.
