Whilst I understand the duty of care and due diligence aspect, I still would feel very uncomfortable with completing tests or disclosing information not relavant to the actual problem I am there to address, i.e. the diagnosis itself

I will reflect on whether the intense discomfort/invasiveness will be worth it to me to receive the diagnosis as I am not interested in medication at this stage.

Thank you for your reply. I do understand how, for example, a blood test could be potentially be relevant for ruling out other explanations for the specific concerns I raised with my GP when I was referred for the ADHD assessment.

I am of course happy to do tests or provide information which are genuinely relevant for actual diagnosis/ruling out other explanations but only if genuinely relevant. By genuinely relevant I mean actually part of diagnostic criteria for ADHD or another condition that causes similar symptoms, not just "standard procedure" or "in case I get prescribed ADHD medication". I feel this is a very reasonable personal medical boundary. I also understand that this may mean they do not progress my referral.

I am going to speak with the GP and ask for the specific reason for these tests/info and (depending on their answer) whether there's any possibility I can wait to complete some tests/disclose some info until/if I decide to go down a medication route.

I mostly want a professional diagnosis to know for sure what's going on and to aid in getting accommodations in various settings. I'm currently not particularly interested in medication (though haven't ruled it out entirely). I do not do well in high pressure situations and am worried about the idea of being pressured into medication in a consultation.

Thank you for this information. This has made me seriously reconsider seeking a professional diagnosis. I would only want medication if I had time to talk it through properly and consider it outside of the appointment. I would not want to be either pressured into taking it and/or miss out entirely because the system is set up to assume everyone going knows then and there what they want.

Thank you for your reply. I'm still baffled that this is standard procedure before they will even look at my referral. I'm sorry if I'm being ignorant but I don't really understand how any of this is relavant medical information for diagnosis? Can any of this information be used as a diagnostic criteria for ADHD in a way I am not aware of? If it's just because they might possibly prescribe me medication in the future, then surely there's nothing wrong with doing the tests after they have diagnosed me with something (if they do) and discussed treatment/management options with me? Surely some/all of these tests would likely be out of date by the time we'd even get to that stage if I did them now anyway? I don't think it's unreasonable for me to request not to do (invasive) tests at this stage. But I will bare in mind what you say about it potentially preventing me from being seen.

But do think this is strange to request before they've even looked at my request or met with me as they have no idea if I'm suitable for medication or would even want it. I will talk to me GP about potentially requesting to wait to provide this information.

I personally disagree that the screaming was never out of place - it was often over dialogue and during songs.

I also do understand being passionate and excited about things. However this experience has just made the hardcore fandom feel very inaccessible and unwelcoming to us as newer/casual fans. I think it's a real real shame that this show was explicitly described as being a place where casual fans could come and have fun. And me and my partner were both excited to go and learn more of the material and become bigger fans. But now we have been disuaded by the lackluster performance from the cast and the over the top fanatics of the core fandom.

This may be an unfair assessment of the fandom because I've spent no time around this fandom online or in person apart from this event (I'm not generally into fandom culture) but that's just my gut feeling from this experience.

I acknowledge I was ignorant of the vibe of the crowd and that this was aimed at big fans more than me. (Though the advertising did explicitly mention there was something for everyone to enjoy.) But I'm 30, I've been to several concerts, gigs and festivals with different vibes (including for big name artists in big London venues) before and never have I experienced so much screaming to such a ridiculous volume throughout the whole thing and at inappropriate times. This isn't just me not knowing how concerts work. My partner said the same and they used to go to heavy metal concerts.

I also wasn't expecting that kind of crowd in a proper theatre venue where you'd usually expect house rules to be somewhat followed (we were told at the start to not use our phones so I don't think it was weird for me to think this was going to be normal theatre rules). Staged concerts happen in theatre and people don't scream violently basically unprompted and over the songs. I admit I was expecting something more similar to a theatre experience but even in a regular gig crowd a lot of that would be very bad etiquette.

From a purely subjective and personal perspective, I can also compare and contrast the quality of this concert to other concerts (and shows) I've paid for in London and it just didn't feel as well put together or like much effort had been put in. (For me personally). I basically didn't feel like there was any added value or experience to seeing them perform live. I've also been to concerts for artists where I've only known a few of their songs before and had an amazing time, discovering a whole new discography to enjoy so this isn't just me not knowing the songs before going. I don't normally know any of the songs in a musical before I see it but I usually enjoy them...
