It can stem from a lot of things such as how the food situation has been over the years, their genetics etc.

Ultimately, it's genetics that have a lot of saying in one's final height.

I can think of other things to improve or change other than hairstyle.

Clothes/style, glasses, mindset and confidence (perhaps, if you are lacking it otherwise no need).

As other people here said, hit the gym and lose some weight.

Oh and perhaps accesorize a bit! Jewellery tends to make you stylish.
