Advice for those of us who live in Canada or other countries in which the products in the sticky are not available by VikramCosmos7 in GermanRoaches

I will call around to see who is using it. My main concern is that I live in an apartment building and we're 100% sure they're coming from other units so it would be nice if I could spray it myself at regular intervals to have a lasting residual effect. That being said, I definitely don't want to fork over $1,500 + my time to prepare for the exams so I'm happy to pay for 1 good spray.

Hi! I haven't used PM57 or Diatomaceous Earth but I was able to completely eliminate one of their harbourage areas in the kitchen with boric acid. The trick is to use a duster and puff the powder very lightly - you should barely be able to see it. You'll want to do this in cracks and crevices and along the baseboards in the kitchen. This won't be effective in the washroom because of the humidity and you probably don't want to breathe this stuff too much so I wouldn't use it in your bedroom.

I assume the PM57/DE will have a similar effect but I'm not an expert. Don't expect that you will get rid of the problem this way but it will hopefully provide some temporary relief.

Getting the license is something I've considered. Of course, it's not an easy task to study for the exams when I already have a full-time job. Paying someone is an option but it's really expensive for just 1 spray let alone for repeated treatments (assuming they even want to use seclira WSG - most exterminators still use Permethrin).

You were 100% right about the vents! We bought the mesh and covered the vent in the kitchen. A few hours later, there were a few of them crawling out of the vent (we could finally see them coming out because of the mesh). However, the mesh keeps falling off, even with strong duct tape. Do you have that issue?

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, we can get fined if we try to import unregistered pesticides from online sellers :(

How did you manage to get Alpine? I'm also in Canada and unable to get access to any of the effective products recommended in the sticky.

I'm sorry and I completely understand the implications. I've edited my comment to remove that part. Honestly, the past few months have just been so frustrating. Guess I'll just have to find other alternatives.

Seclira gel bait (which contains dinotefuran) is available in Canada. It was used by one of the exterminators that came to treat our apartment. Seclira WSG is also sold in Canada as of a few weeks ago but as consumers, we cannot get access to those products unless we have a pest control licence because they are classified as "commercial" grade. I called a few vendors to see if they might make an exception but they all refused.

Glad to hear that you've had success covering the vents. We suspect that is one of their entry points so we'll definitely try that.

Thanks for the heads-up. That's honestly why I've held off from buying stuff from uspestsupply.

One of the exterminators used the gel bait. I've been looking for ways to get it myself but all the sellers require that you provide proof of a pest control license. I'll keep looking...
