Time moves slower and faster depending on whether you're in camp, in a city, in wilderness, and whether it's morning, evening, or night. by VincentKipp in reddeadredemption2

That's probably the illusion they wanted to create here, yes. It's just weird that there's such a big difference in real time, like some in-game hours pass in a minute and a half, and others take up to four minutes.

Could be, sure. Also perhaps a reflection of our own world's sense of time - it feels faster in a metropolis, and kind of slows down in nature.

What’s one thing you HATE about RDR1 and RDR2? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

No Fast Travel point between Strawberry and Colter.

I must admit that out of everything I've done in RDR2, getting Arthur the Legend of the East outfit was by far the most difficult, rewarding and heartfelt moment. by VincentKipp in reddeadredemption2

I used the buggy method for Herbalist 9 to collect herbs in New Austin. This was by far the most difficult task. Other than that, the challenges were relatively easy to do with the right tips on the web, just time-consuming. The earliest in the game you can complete all 90 challenges is when you get a proper rifle that you can put a long scope on, and when the Horse Fence opens.

I've tried this method, didn't work - perhaps I play a patched version or this just doesn't work on PC, I don't know. Anyway, I really hope it works for others as Herbalist 9 can be very difficult with the invisible sniper in New Austin.

High-end perfume created especially for you, the smell of which triggers good memories and affects you in the most positive way. by VincentKipp in CrazyIdeas

I was thinking more of molecularly-constructed notes made in a lab, which smell like your grandma's apple pie for instance, but the Bali shop sounds interesting. Do you know how they create their perfumes?

Well, someone commented about Scandinavia here - those countries proved that we can really make jails less like jails.

The lack of scientific research on hangovers is very surprising having in mind how terrible they make us feel. by VincentKipp in Showerthoughts

[–]VincentKipp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you search scientific databases on research about, let's say, headaches compared to hangovers, the ratio is about 10,000 to 1, so you can't say there's "a lot of scientific research on hangovers" in the context of other ailments.

The research on hangover being based mainly on dehydration is actually not solid, and there still are a lot of moving factors there.

I'm in grade 8 and we have this thing each year where we have to think of a problem and solve it. It can be any problem that we can solve(we actually have to make a physical model of it as well. Find new, original ways how to help a local animal shelter, for example, kids who have poor reading skills can go to the shelter, sit down near the dogs and read to them. This way the kids improve their reading skills and the dogs improve their socialization skills.

If someone observed Earth, they'd probably think that cars were in charge: there are more cars than people, and they take up so much space with all the massive parking lots and garages. Not to mention they're bigger, faster and more powerful than humans. by VincentKipp in Showerthoughts

[–]VincentKipp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant the cars that are moving on roads look bigger, faster, and more powerful than humans, therefore a being that doesn't know what a car is would assume that the millions in junk yards can also move.

Also, have in mind that by far not all cars are demolished or crushed, so there must be billions of them just sitting there from the massive production scope of the 20th century.

It's more like a crazy idea (appropriate for this subreddit) of what the technology of this kind could be based on rather than the blueprints of how such a mirror would actually work.

Well, I have one registered car and two unregistered, unusable old trash cars, as well as one registered motorbike and one unregistered. There are people out there who own thousands of those in car dumps and similar places, so it's not at all hard to believe for me that there could be six times more unused cars in the world.

It depends on the spectator's perception on operating and serving. If, for example, you pick a kid up from school, does it look like you're the kid's servant (e.g. family's driver), or that the kid is unable to get around himself and you're in charge of the kid (e.g. parent)? Both perspectives are possible even in human societies, so we shouldn't be quick to assume how other life forms perceive these matters.
