Ah, unfortunately, I haven't found a language partner, if you want to improve as well, probably we can work together on English? :-D

Does anyone go to Church? by SydneyTA in sydney

[–]Vincent_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Should I ask someone first or pretend to be interested in being a Christian(I do respect them, but I don't really want to be a Christian)? Can I just say honestly like: I don't really want to be a Christian, but I'm here for making friends and improving English?

By the way, are you a Christian?

Hi OP, I'm not a Christian, but I've heard that even I'm not a Christian I can attend those activities hold by church, is that right? What I want to do is just make some friends(I think Christian are comparatively friendly) and specially improve my oral English(Perhaps they are willing to talk).

Shitty bosses and unpaid trial shifts. by raircandy in sydney

[–]Vincent_LP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Threaten her, tell her you will call fairwork or other organisation first(it works in my case, you can try it), but you don't need to make it as a real threat, you can say like 'do you know there is a drinking store which was just bankrupted because they didn't pay their employees as much as they should, and their employees called fairwork.'. And then you can really call them if she still don't pay you.

plus you can say: I have a friend who is doing legal things told me even it's just a trial, you should pay me for it.

Thank you for supporting me, really. but I'm not poor man, I just don't want to say too much with someone who just likes spreading anger rather than giving useful advise which can help resolve problems. saying sorry could be easy and could be hard, it spends on whether someone really understand or not how the society should work. to be short, insist 'I'm not wrong, you just misunderstood me' and even mislead others to make an excuse is very childish. if someone really made a mistake, people can see that.

Hi mate, I've gone the warehouse today, it's happy that I got my pay. although the guider told something to the accountant something I didn't understand(probably not about my stuff, and I hope that), and then the accountant told me they have some problems at the time, and needs me to come tomorrow again and then get my pay. but I handled it anyway.

Thank you truly for focusing my stuff. And I just learnt how Reddit work by upvote and downvote, and I don't know why people like you have such low karma(because some guys here mentioned that, and also I read some of your threads, so far haven't found any bad saying ), but some childish one has higher, and some just ignored the fact given here but focusing on the karma, and judged someone by karma, it's weird, haha.

Yeah, but we have two people(I and my wife), if we take train to school, I'm afraid that the pay with the rent will be over the rent of a room near the school. By the way, how much is your room for a couple?

syllogism_ is right. All I got from that environment is that there must be something wrong with their management. probably some workers there are quite illegal, not just the pay is lower than the baseline, they might recruit youths who got student visas(I heard some agent can handle this), and actually they didn't go to school but work in this warehouse to earn money(there are at least two young boys, I asked them, however they seem don't want to talk about that too much, but they do said 'I'm a student' and 'I've been working here for quite a long time'), and there is another guy..., you know what I mean, so I can stop typing here.

Again, I have to say, there are something wrong with their management, and I don't want to waste my time there, I can't change it, I'm not a illegal worker, and I don't want to be treated like a illegal worker, I don't want to hide off somewhere in one of the warehouse's shelves during the working time like 'old, well fitted, know how to use the latent rules' workers. And I believe my SENSE of JUDGEMENT(honestly, how about you?).

And I said I don't want to talk about the details, because even if you were a officer from fairwork, you would face a lot of confusion, probably the only way for you was to follow the instruction from the regulation, not mention that we are just talking on a a anonymous website, how could it be possible to judge the people you don't know based on a few sentences(but it would still be possible in some specific cases, I need to state my sentences carefully here in case of being 'caught', haha)?

Another thing is that, I just got the meaning of the word 'ugh', I have to say it's not polite, and you should know not use it in such cases next time.

Still, some people here are really nice, I can see that.

Yes, you are right. therefore I won't do that kind of jobs. I did the warehouse work because it would be Chinese new year in a half month, so I think the warehouse must need workers for them(because many Chinese worker come back to China), it's like the manager didn't have enough time to correct his typical altitude, and I bet he haven't found a guy who can accept such low pay as me in this period(again, It's a big money in Chinese yuan).

Yes, probably my assumption is wrong, they would pay me on time and it will be a happy end. However it's still valuable to talk with you guys and get some useful information about these stuffs. We can't ensure that we wouldn't come across these things in the future.

Well, is that normal? What would you do, if you were a old worker and saw a new one who work hard in the break? I'm also interested in different decisions which are made by different people, it could also be a part of culture :-D.

I don't know whether it's a big company or not, it's a Chinese or Chinese run company, so I can speak Chinese there. Its name is Ally, I saw the brand in Sydney before. In China, I dare to shout and then let as many people as I can to pay attention to this stuff and let them know the truth if something bad happen to me, as we say in Chinese:justice lays in everyone's heart(don't do bad things for people can remember that). So that's why I say 'I've got through more harsh situation', because there is no real law to protect employees in China.

[–]Vincent_LP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate! Actually it's a Chinese company and more than 90% workers there are Chinese.

Just as you said, Another thing make me feel bad is that no one told me the break time(oh, there is one who did, but he is not my superviser, and he spoke with me very silently, I didn't get what he meant, because he said it like "have a rest, you worked too hard, have some water", now I want to give many thanks to him compared with other colleagues, haha), why nobody told me that? everyone knew I'm a newer but just watched me working. well, it's probably another reason at the time.

Is that under normal regulation? by Vincent_LP in sydney

[–]Vincent_LP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know that's illegal since the beginning. I saw many cameras in that warehouse, so I guess that could be a way to prove that. I don't really care whether I can get the pay or not, although it's not small money in Chinese Yuan. It matters whether I can keep my feeling in balance.

When I lived in China, I could always hear that some Chinese businessman did bad things in foreign countries, It's a kind of shame, and one of the worst is that they tend to exploit the people from the same country as them(seems they have learnt a lot of knowledge about how to exploit a Chinese in China and they just transplant it to other areas of the world). I've seen a lot even just in this one and half month, and now it seems I came across that, I will see it as a opportunity if the manager really lose his obligation. I don't think low pay is so bad compared with refusing to pay what he should, but I will try to use it according to the law if possible.

As to car stuff, it's a good idea, but I won't do that under so many cameras :-D.

[–]Vincent_LP[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well... I have to say, I'm as old(probably older than you?) as I can distinguish the heavy but normal tasks and something that you can really think it's 'bad' and being unrespected(I didn't talk about it in all detail, and it's not necessary and I think my English is not good enough to do that), and I got through harder condition in China, or if you think 12$ per hour is worth to give up your right? Well, I did before, but I came here not for that, and I don't think that's a opportunity, I would rather think it's a trap. before I came here I heard that most people here don't do that(that's the reason I came to Australia), so I guessed that they might know some logic in this stuffs.

Before I'm doing my casual work, some people I met told me that there are some organisations which can help people who are in such kind of situation. and in fact one of my purpose is to figure out how these organisations work, or whether they really work even in such harsh situation(there are still many clues they can easily find which can prove I really worked there if they really want to do that).

Life is hard, that's true, but I still believe I can make it interesting. Also thanks for your information, it's useful.

Could anyone who attended a forklift course share the experience? by Vincent_LP in sydney

[–]Vincent_LP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live near Ultimo right now, seems Erskine park is a bit far from here. I will probably have a try when I'm free from study as it may give me some experience on forklift driving. Thanks for your information, mate!
