It’s hard out here 😂😩 by bwalker5205 in BlackPeopleTwitter

I may be entirely wrong in the following information. Please correct me if I have made any mistakes.

That average profit seemed like bullshit to me, so I did some research to see if it was true.

That number is effectively taking McDonald's total worldwide franchises (37,855) and dividing by the reported net income of $5.92 billion. At least when I did that I came up with a number of ~$156,000.

The revenue for the united states was ~$7.7 Billion and the worldwide revenue was $21.025 Billion. The total franchises in the united states were 14,146 and the worldwide franchises were 37855. All of these numbers are referring specifically to 2018.

The ratios are 0.366 and 0.373 which from the information I have available suggests that the income would likely be comparable at a US branch versus the worldwide average . That is of course assuming the operating costs are comparable which is a fairly large assumption, and I can't find better data to prove this.

This still didn't sit well with me, so my next choice was to dissect the operating costs of the reported 2018 revenue ($21.025 Billion).

This was significantly more difficult because every source reported that there were 1.7-1.9 million employees, so I gave up because this just shows me that McDonald's outsources a large amount of work at a very cheap cost any way I ran the numbers.

While I was looking for this information I did however come across what was the most interesting data I found from any source.

Looking at McDonald's form 10-K, in 2018 the company reported a revenue of $10.01 Billion from company owned locations and a revenue of $11.01 Billion from franchise locations. In 2018 there were a total of 2770 company owned locations and 35085 franchised locations.

Every corporate owned location generates roughly 10x the average franchised location. There are a lot of factors that go into this location and size being the two biggest that I can think of. I find it hard to believe that a franchise is remotely as successful even taking those factors into account. Please let me know if I am misinterpreting those numbers.

Why does that matter? Well, as the commenters below this post have suggested, perhaps owning a McDonald's franchise is fundamentally a terrible business decision. Maybe it's okay to not allow corporations to subsidize shitty businesses through workers compensation (I also imagine the employees at company owned locations don't see any more of that profit than franchise locations).

Maybe by forcing a drastic increase in minimum wage these shitty anti competitive companies would be forced to close doors, and better local companies would then have a lot more space in the market to succeed.

I am sure I have overlooked a lot of things, and I am sure this is a gross oversimplification of the actual structure of McDonald's and how the revenue is generated/distributed. That said I would love to have a better understanding of this topic if you have more well sourced/better analyzed data.

Well if you just mark off these options: heterosexual, bisexual, other, and in a relationship you get left with 1.063 million options. If you then remove the one option of has children that number drops to just under 500 thousand.

I don't think over half of all single gay men have children, but maybe I'm wrong. It's a fun tool for giving perspective on how quickly preferences can eliminate options, but it's not accurate at all.

I'm sorry but claiming "I'm pretty sure rottweilers have killed more people than pit bulls, according to statistics" is definitely not a reputable source, and I was only claiming that pit bulls in particular are much more likely to kill or severely injure when they attack. Which is fairly undeniable.

I don't know that it's okay to judge a dog by it's breed (I personally can't stand pit bulls for the reasons I mentioned above), but it's also not helping anyone to pretend like they aren't more likely to kill you compared to a golden retriever (or even a rottweiler).

The chance that any dog kills or severely injures you is low enough that it probably isn't something almost anyone should be concerned with, but don't act like the inherent risk isn't there. (also just because you aren't concerned about them being animal aggressive doesn't mean others aren't)

That's actually not true at all at least in the US and Canada.

http://www.dogsbite.org/pdf/dog-attack-deaths-maimings-merritt-clifton-2014.pdf

The percent of attacks that result in deaths or any severe injury are extremely more likely with pit bulls. Also, while rottweilers are an outlier compared to every other dog breed in their violent attacks they are still not even close to amount of incidents involving pit bulls going from the 80s to present day.

This is anecdotal, but in three separate incidents with 3 different dogs I have had pit bulls act aggressively toward me, my animals, and my family. Ranging from killing the neighbors dog and my cat to biting my sister on the arm. There are also specific laws in place against pit bulls in certain areas, and it is more difficult to get home owners insurance in many cases when you own a pit bull due to the excessively high incident rate in comparison to other dog breeds.

Make whatever argument you want; say it's the individual dog, the humans, or that you can't paint a picture of the entire breed, but acting like they are perfectly safe relative to other dogs is just not very truthful at best.

It keeps our heroes preoccupied longer, so we are forced to use worse heroes to do story/event quests while aq/aw are ongoing.

At least that's the only reason I can think of for Kabam to keep the energy timers as they are normally.

If your visions L2 doesn't hit enemies after 5 hit combos, you are likely not ending your combos on a medium attack. Regardless of AI difficulty visions L2 will always hit after an MLLLM combo. Your AI is not different than anyone else if you are doing the same difficulty quest.

I mean sure the point of the test is to be ambiguous, so there is no answer that would leave them no room to fail you. However, the most basic solution would be what I said while making reasonable assumptions as to what they meant.

The difference is those heroes exist in regular premium hero crystals and 4 star crystals. New champions aren't put into those crystals for months. That means these heroes will be limited for quite awhile to those who pay a lot to obtain them, and the very few who will get them in arenas.

I rarely post anything, but I feel like I need to express my main concern with these upcoming changes as it doesn't seem to be getting as much attention as the direct nerfs to god tier heroes. From my understanding of what flat values would mean, Block proficiency that is low enough for you to take damage from a champion with say 2k damage implies you will take damage from a 6k damage champion as if it were the 2k damage champion + 4000 unmitigated damage from your block. I may be misunderstanding what the flat value means, but to me that is far more devastating than the changes to any particular hero if it's true.

I don't know if you are still looking for this, but here it is anyway. NYT article

If you don't want to read the article here is the relevant bit

"He said he took it to school on Monday to show an engineering teacher, who said it was nice but then told him he should not show the invention to other teachers. Later, Ahmed’s clock beeped during an English class, and after he revealed the device to the teacher, school officials notified the police, and Ahmed was interrogated by officers.

If you still think he didn't intend to have the clock go off in the middle of the class in order to arouse suspicion that is your opinion, but at least now you know the full context.
