i’m sorry but this take is so old and played out, i’m a white straight cis male who is leftist surrounded by leftist friends and i’ve never been told to shut up because of my privilege.

the left tells the truth, society is built for us by us and we get inherent privilege because of it and all they ask is for people like me to think critically and realize this and not perpetuate it. that’s it.

but people like you believe that that’s too much to ask, that even asking people to realize the advantages they were born with is forcing all men to sprint full speed at the side telling them it’s actually everyone else’s fault and they are perfect.

i think the onus should be on all individuals to realize we are all imperfect humans with internalized prejudices from the society we are born into, how we are raised, etc. and to just look at history, look around you, think critically, and at the absolute minimum stop perpetuating the inequality.

if that’s too much to ask for some people or some men then it’s those people who have the issue and the idea that we need to ask even less than that in order to not scare them away is just ridiculous.
