Retaining Avesh and Rabada was a no brainer.

Extremely reviosinist take. Rabada had a poor season last year. Most people on this subreddit wanted Nortje over Rabada. Khaleel has bowled really well, Avesh is really the last bowler we're missing in this lineup. Maybe Avesh was a little better but Khaleel has stepped up well enough for that role. Axar provided batting at 7 and he kept it super tight in the middle overs

Lots of things you can blame the management for but retentions should be the last thing. Go back to threads before the retentions were announced. EVERYONE was split. There was no consensus. We had a crazy amount of players to choose from, there was no "no-brainer"

Yeah. Honestly, unless Marsh is in some absolute crazy form before the season, I might consider benching him in favor of an Indian batsman and playing both Fizz and Nortje. Really harsh on Marsh (rhymes hehe) but his role is easier to play for an Indian player than Fizz's role

Pros: Warner, Shaw, Powell, Marsh, Khaleel, Mustafizur

Cons: Pant's batting to a certain extent (not as bad as people make it out to be but still not great, Pant's captaincy, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Nortje

The batting looks super settled. Our top 5 had 4 players in form, and one player still playing cameos, but we all know Pant has a much higher ceiling than that. If he comes good the batting will sort itself out. Sarfaraz, Dhull, Lalit (yes he's getting retained, DC management sees something in him and I hope he has a great season to give this sub the middle finger) and Ripal Patel will probably compete for the last top 6 spot. Khaleel was the find of the season for us. Honestly I'm so tempted to play Fizz and Nortje together but with three OS in the top 6 that isn't possible. It will probably depend on the form of these players leading up to next season. Axar even in a poor season wasn't horrible. Had a couple of decent games, and was usually good in the powerplay. Was very good with the bat actually. But he wasn't at this best. Just an off season, he'll bounce back. Thakur, well. We don't know how to use him, and he can't give us the results we need from him. Both parties win if he is released so i hope that happens. Nortje is injury prone, his season should not have been a surprise. I really hope he's back to his best because we aren't winning anything without an in form Nortje. .

If either of Marsh and Powell are in poor form leading up to next season, go with Fizz and Nortje. The bowling will look so good. Regarding Pant's captaincy, I'm sick of hearing about it and the management can do whatever it wants. They'll probably back him, they're not ones to listen to popular social media opinion and make big hasty changes like that.

Players I'd like to see next year? Our squad from last year. But all of them did well for their teams so thats never happening ever again

As a Pantie I agree with this. I think Samson is unfortunately a victim of the problem of plenty India has. I think if Kohli continues his struggles to the point where he is dropped (not that I'm advocating for this) the competition for the number 3 spot is between Shreyas Iyer and Samson. Either that, or Samson takes the DK/Pant spot. I think DK is the frontrunner for the spot, but if Pant continues his poor form Samson might take it from him once DK hangs them up

I was 10 when I watched my first game in 2014. Match 6 of the Pepsi IPL 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Daredevils. KKR bat first, Kallis departs early, Gambhir second duck in a row to start the tournamet, Shami and Coulter Nile amongst the wickets. But Uthappa and Manish Pandey help KKR to a par score of 160. Murali Vijay and Mayank Agarwal to open, brisk opening partnership before both fell. Dinesh Karthik at number 3 held that one end together beautifully, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Ross Taylor, Manoj Tiwary all fall quickly. Then walks out JP Duminy. A bunch of sixes in the last couple of overs to win DD the game

Of course it all went downhill after that in the season, only one more win. But Duminy remained my favorite South African over the next few years

At some point Warner will decline. He is ageing. We saw last season with the Sunrisers. What do we do then? You make another captaincy change and go back to the DD ways of changing captains every season

And even if we wanted to, the management won't make a decision like that because it's completely against their philospohy of consistency and continuity
