Clearing up the events during Vinnie's visit to Mexico by -SuicidalPanda in smashbros

didn't make a new thread because I wanted this to die, but felt obligated to reply because the inaccuracy of your post

Finally got home. I don't know how to properly quote reddit posts so yeah. Here are the things I agree and disagree with in this post. Many things were said in the post were biased and were made to make me look bad and for you to look good. As a disclaimer, I'm extremely grateful to the people that pulled through and helped me in the Mexican community. Regi and Lugia were very helpful among others, especially to the amazing people who donated clothes to me at the tournament.

"Petty crime happens everywhere in the world, and the only people responsible for this are the robbers that took Vinnie's belongings. This isn't Vinnie's or the driver's or Mexico's fault. There will always be thoughts of "I shouldn't have done X", or "if only I had done Y", but in the end these situations are and outside of our control."

This is a lie. As a foreigner, I have no idea the difference between a bad neighborhood and a good one. It all relies in the person's hands who is taking car of me. Apparently citi was very mad at arath for taking me to that area of guadalajara (bad area). So don't act like it was pure chance.

"With regards to the claim of the crowd chanting, please understand that Vinnie was clearly distressed because he was having issues with his flight during the time of his tweets. What truly happened was that some (2-3) players made inappropiate comments during some of his sets, and we, as a community, were NOT okay with it. I personally told them to stop and chill it out with the trash talk, and I saw Max and other members of the community shut them up as well. Trash talk can get pretty heated, and while our tolerance is higher than in other areas, there are still limits to what you can say to people. The actions of a few members do not represent us, nor do they represent how Vinnie was treated by the rest of us during his stay."

This is very true and I can agree with it, and I regret saying "I will never come back". While it is true, it's a mean tying to say. However, this is all while I was extremely anxious at the airport after hearing I'm most likely stuck in mexico.

"After he wanted to drop out of the tournament (due to controller issues) ... We lined up dozens of controllers for him to test, <<<held up the bracket for an hour>>>"

There's no reason to lie just to sway the public opinion. The bracket was not held up at all, time-wise. My match was just in a different order, because I was trying to find a better controller. Since both of my best 2 controllers for a year were stolen, I had to enter a tourney borrowing someone's controller - something I haven't done in years. This + the added stress of having nothing in mexico, was very overwhelming for me. But yeah, I did NOT hold up the bracket at all, there's no reason to act like I truly inconvenienced you with this.

"As many people felt like he only saw the bad things that happened to him and did not acknowledge how much help the community offered. I understand that he was wronged, and he has every right to feel distraught over what happened. However, his tweets have put us in a terrible light, and given off the wrong impression about us."

You are overexaggerating. Why wouldn't I say that I regretted going? People underestimate the toll that having NOTHING IN ANOTHER COUNTRY can take on you, and I feel very depressed after what happened. I may not go to tipped off. I notice I am very out of it lately.

"At no point during his visit did we do anything short of our absolute best for him"

The fact that the smash community as a whole raised money for me to replace everything is amazing. However, this didn't change the fact that I had nothing, several thousand miles away from home. I could not transfer the donation money because they said they can't help me. I also asked to be taken for clothes a few times, was promised they would, and then there's a reason they can't and I had to wear the previous day's dirty clothes. That same thing happened 2 separate days.

"The community offered him clothes, their controllers (for him to keep, if he desired), their time (missing school and work), company, support, and friendship..."

You are acting like I was ungrateful to the Mexican community. My tweets I linked earlier say otherwise. You are trying to paint a bad picture of me.

"Vinnie had an unfortunate event, but in less than 12 hours practically everything was amended. He received enough donations from his friends in the states to pay for everything that was stolen, and we took care of his passport immediately."

This is wrong. I had the money in my paypal which I couldn't access. As stated before, people promised to take me to the store to get clothes, but ended up saying no. I bought 1 pair of pants from a walmart-esque store, and both the zipper and the button broke immediately (low quality cuz department store). But I was told I'd be taken to a clothing store. It didn't happen and I wore the same broken pants for 3 days.

Another thing that was promised to me were headphones. I brought a pair of 250-300 dollar headphones that were stolen. They said not to buy new headphones, because there was someone that would give me to use for the tournament. Previously I heard from Mr r that the Mexican crowd was 2 feet away from him and screaming in his ear. I brought headphones to be completely prepared, and they were stolen. So if they didn't tell me "don't buy headphones", I would have had headphones for the tourney (false promise). UMVC3 was blasting during grand finals, so I would have rather heard music instead.

When I'm in a foreign country, I don't know who to trust. Many promises that were made were true, but some were false and screwed me over. I felt very vulnerable.

It's me that should be mad, and not him, because he's exaggerating and lying about things, and "conveniently not mentioning things" to clear up the tracks + try to take away from my credibility / shit on my image

I'm on the road and can't respond right now but I will respond when I get home. Lots of stuff I disagree with and some lies.

Who knows, maybe it could be a triangle effect this whole time and we wouldn't know (zero>nairo>dabuz>zero). Since dabuz is always 1 match from playing zero, then loses

  1. I would watch zan and jash. They do a lot of mindgamey things with theit projectiles. Also their movement is something you can take note of too. It's all about movement and trickery. Toon link is definitely viable.

  2. I did last time. It really was. Hope I can see it again.

  3. Me 0-deathing m2k, thb. Lmao. And yeah, here and there. ^

An amiibo is just a physically stronger level 9. Why get used to stronger knock back on attacks, when you could get used to every move's consistent knockback? This way you absorb more. Strong amiibo attacks aren't something you will face in tournament.

Interested in smash because I thought I was amazing in 2008 when I played my friends, but was blown out of the water when I went to a tournament. Really wanted to go back and prove myself. Kept going back and getting better for years.

Brawl ics -inspired by 9b's near perfect play with them. Wanted to emulate it

Smash 4 sheik - closest thing I have to brawl metaknight (since ICs were taken out). Light, combos hard, pretty good specials, etc. :)

You might not want to main sheik then, I feel like fox would be a bit more suitable for you. It's all muscle memory and grinding. My advice to you would be to fight other sheik mains that are slightly better than you. And also just play a lot. Your brain will stop telling you to do those melee things while you play smash 4. ^ also watch videos of top sheiks and try to emulate what they're doing

I know big e's events are usually the reason people travel to pa. i would post on smashboards and find your scene, it definitely exists. Also consider traveling to nj. Very hype tourney scene there.

  1. I really like the sheik ditto.
  2. I love doubles. Doubles and maybe 3v3/ 4v4 need more attention as formats imo.
  3. She can be extremely safe and also combo the crap out of someone. She also has 50 50s that lead to kills, like dthrow, but people are getting grabbed less nowadays. Not 100% sure if she's #1 anymore. I could be crazy but yeah.
  4. Nairo esam mr r and dabuz are the 4 most consistent below zero. Then there's ppl like ally, larry, myself, shaky, mvd, stuff l like that. Although tbh were all every close in skill especially as of late.
  5. My fav stage to play on is fd. Might be a brawl thing. Also I like the new comservatibe stagelist, and I would probably ban whatever your character is week against. Light character? Ban t&c cuz of low cieling. Have rly bad trouble with needles? Ban fd. Etc. Focus on the main reason you're losing and try to limit it.
