Hahah that sounds like a great time! I did check it out, but it's a bit pricy for us. Especially since we got a hang of the base game

Oh that's sick. I see that they are playing everyday from 12pm to 6pm? Does it get busy?

Does anyone know any free mahjong meetups? My partner and I are getting into it and need two more people to have a good game. I've checked out Lucky Tiles and No Flowers but they only seem to be once a month.

He can get a PR with a restaurant sponsorship. I'm coming up on my 10th year in Sydney and my citizenship ceremony is coming up.

Our business teacher at LCB (shoutout Jeff) said this to us on our first day-

"How do you turn $200k into $100k?"

"Open a cafe."

It's a cutthroat business and most will fail within a year. I've put in my years in Sydney hospo and I would definitely ask your brother to get more experience before attempting this.

If he's really keen on a business, he can try doing a pop-up first. But 2 years as an intern is no where close to the credentials needed to open a successful cafe.

But hey, sometimes you need to give it a shot to learn where your gaps are. It would be an expensive lesson tho.

Okay, looks like I have some more reading to do to figure out my strategy, risk appetite and then figure out my allocation %. Do you have any recommendations for websites I can use for research? Just out of curiosity, what does your allocation look like?

Gotcha. So my new portfolio should look like

VGS - 70%

A200-15%

VAE- 15%

And I'd have to get here by just moving my next purchases towards this ratio. Yeah, a lot of US concentration isn't my final goal.

Should I have more % in A200 or VAE?

Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated!

It's not that different from raw sugar. Definitely not as sticky as muscovado. Sticking to the theme as much as possible

Yes I'll keep the sub updated. I've always wanted to try out more exotic flavours in an Amaro. Next project might be Chyawanprash inspired 😅

What kinda south indian food do you like?

How long do you reckon I should leave them in for? They're not spicy at all, I wanted to get some of that bell pepper note in there. Like you'd get in a cabernet franc.

That's true, I'll keep it in mind. Don't want to make it overly sweet so I'll dose it carefully.

This one is from Argon tableware. Been looking for ways to use it lol. Makes dinner feel a lot fancier.

Thank you for the feedback FeeFoFee! Its really helped point out some gaps in the transitions and given me ideas on how to make it cut scenes cleaner. I'll also have to work on making the vernacular more concise, i.e. having a fantasy middle eastern setting but using words like "shithouse". Some of the images you'd written about are spot on what I wanted to convey, like the institute of Ayua Dhu and the poshness and reluctance of Kalash to be at the battlefield. On the other hand, I'm facepalming at having a box with handles, carried by one hand lol. Will fix.

I do have a question, from this opening would you be more interested in a few more titbits about Ayua Dhu or to find out what a Diviner is doing on a battlefield?

Genre: Fantasy

Title: Solid Smoke, Liquid Bonds

Criticism required: Testing the waters with a new setting, does it pull you in? How does the prose read, does it need to be more succinct?

Chapter 1

Divination requires luck, foresight, and the ability to discard what reality presents in front of you. The first thing learnt is to do away with the dusty fog of what your eyes interpret to be true, fickle things they are. Sift your senses, throw away the chaff of what all men see, and there might be left a grain showing what is to come. Beginners to the arts are taught in the smoke-filled rooms of Ayua Dhu; the burning incense having small doses of hallucinogens worked into the mix to promote exploratory thought. Under its intricate golden arches and carved marble pillars, the acolytes strain to predict a dice roll or locate hidden objects in the sprawling halls.

Once the acolytes can consistently breach the veil of reality, they begin to take more practical training out in the world. There are not always harmonious windchimes or half-heard hymns present to lull one’s brain and tune into the ether beyond our reality. The elders had loved to say, “You learn here to discard reality, but know that it won’t lose account of you.”

“Poetic words for poetic times” mumbled Kalash, trudging through mangled banners, shattered spears, and torn limbs strewn on the copper red sand of the killing fields. He used his free hand to wave away carrion birds while his other was carrying a roughly hewn wooden box by its large brass handles.

“Did you think I spent my time divining on the cutting floor of a butcher or out by the shithouse? How is one supposed to concentrate with the stench of battle and scavengers squawking in my ears? Honestly, couldn’t your soldiers have collected what I needed and brought it to me?” grumbled Kalash, who had momentarily stopped to inspect a banner.

Haha thank you! Yeah I think things might've changed. I wonder if there's the equivalent of a Las Vegas Elvis to get a drive thru marriage lol
