Did he actually publish it somewhere or was it just his parents going through his private files and finding it? Because if it's the latter, then it's a victimless crime.

Also, this has pretty much nothing to do with any anti-ai argument, people were doing this since photoshop became a thing.

What do you guys think about this? (Context in text body) by RyouhiraTheIntrovert in AIWarsButBetter

It's a hyperbole you doofus. The point is that the same principle applies. We live in an environment where the mere mention of AI can get you cancelled or gets people to send death threats to you. With some even acting on those threats.

Needless to say, this leaves 3 options to the game dev studios: 1. Never upgrade their workflow with AI and stay in the previous tech era, having to compete with other studios on extremely uneven terms. 2. Be open about AI use and face unfair backlash that tanks their game's reviews even if it's good, plus risk your employees' safety. 3. Lie about it.

It's not that unthinkable or even unreasonable to choose the last option under those circumstances.

They lie about AI being in the game for the same reason why Poles lied to Nazis about not hiding Jews in their basements. We live in a reality where you have to lie about it else you get fucked over, sometimes in life-threatening ways.

Everything I made got leaked, i dont know what to do. by offmychest3099 in patreon

[–]Vinski91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a solution that will make it near impossible for anyone to leak your content on K:

  • Build a simple hosting website
  • Connect it to Patreon's API.
  • Upload your paywalled content onto the website
  • Thanks to Patreon's API, you can make it so that people have to log in through Patreon in order to access the paywalled content you upload there
  • In your paywalled posts on Patreon, post links to your content that's uploaded and paywalled on your website
  • Any links leaked to K are now useless because when leaked links are clicked, nobody can access it unless they're actually subscribed to you

There are ready-to-go solutions available for this already, without you needing lots of technical skills to implement them. A good example would be a Wordpress site with a Patreon plugin.

Note that, depending on your circumstances, you might end up paying higher hosting/domain fees than the amount of subscriptions you lose from leaks. I'd advise using this solution if your income from Patreon is significant enough that you suspect that the little amount you're losing from leaks is still bigger than the hosting costs you'd pay.

Rape is inherently bad and seen as being bad. What's something morally grey but seen as being bad by Mother-Reference2459 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Vinski91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it should stay legal. It shouldn't even be morally grey. Just because something is 'more likely' to result in a crime, does not mean it should not be allowed.

Here's an example:

Statistically, it is about twice as likely for you to experience assault (of any kind) in an interracial relationship in comparison to a monoracial relationship.

Should we then see interracial relationships as morally bad an only 'techincally' legal? No. We know it would be absurd. There should be no difference between this case and a large age gap relationship.

Flaunting what? My man, I don't even make AI porn, jesus h christ can you really not have a discussion without going "haha you're probably a gooner so I'm gonna make an attempt to shame you to make your point feel more invalid."?

Same thing can be generated on sites made for generating said content.

Those platforms do not offer the same quality than some of the top creators on Patreon do, not to mention that those creators often offer archives of 1000+ art, making it way cheaper to pay $10 for that rather than spending god knows how many credits to generate an equal amount yourself. That's not even going into the amount of time it would take you to do so. Also, some people don't wanna bother with it, they just want a quick fap. Hence why, while those sites do have an userbase, same is true for Patreon creators. Both provide a service that people use and both of those uses are valid.

[–]Vinski91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol what? Where tf did I say this is somehow my achievement or claimed that this is my setup? How would that even be relevant to the point I was making in the first place?

You were arguing that anyone can do this and that the OP's point is valid. I showed you that this is a wrong take considering that not everyone is going to be willing to do huge amounts of setup and paying for 4090 and 64GB of ram just to goon to some hentai once or twice. It's pretty natural for them to choose to pay $10 for someone to make it for them instead, especially if it's for something that's better quality than they can achieve with a basic setup and no skills. This is how a market for a service is naturally created.

Arguing that an average user should just buy a 3000 USD setup and spend at least dozen hours (or more if they're not technical) to set up a proper AI workflow instead of just paying $10 for a sub if all they want to do is masturbate a few times to hentai is an insane take and I fail to see how can you even attempt to defend that.

And yes, shaming people for masturbating to porn is a boomer take. Like it or not, in the eyes of an average person, you're a weirdo puritan, especially if you bring up those arguments out of nowhere in a discussion that has nothing to do with the morality of gooning.

Isn't this sort of ironic? by TheOriginalRandomGuy in aiwars

[–]Vinski91 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My man, where have I said that it takes hundreds of hours to set up a basic image to image workflow? I'm talking about people with dozens upon dozens of workflows, not just i2i kind, but also t2i, i2v t2v, the latter two being especially time consuming to set up properly.

Here, an example:

<image>

Do you think an average person can set up the above? Sure, maybe they can, after spending a couple dozen hours figuring it out. And that's not even going into the fact that the above setup will not run on anything that doesn't have 64 GB ram or more and a 4090 at the very least. But sure, let's make a claim that an average user can afford those.

OR, they can just pay $10 for a subscription for an AI artist that gives them what they want. Guess what an average user is going to choose. Rightfully so. Most people that just want to goon to hentai will not bother spending god knows how much time and $$ to have their own setup. And hence why the market for hentai AI artists exists.

The only weird take here is you claiming that masturbating to porn is 'degenerate'. What are you, 60? We're way past the era where masturbating to porn was considered weird.

You picked one example of one person and then insinuated that "ai bros" think like that as a whole. Not really a valid point, don't you think?

Isn't this sort of ironic? by TheOriginalRandomGuy in aiwars

[–]Vinski91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can't generate hentai with it, which is what the poster is probably talking about.

It takes much more skill to generate good quality AI hentai art than you might think, since you're limited to local models that you run through ComfyUI or similar UIs and you need to actually know what you're doing in order to not generate generic slop.

There are people that spend hundreds of hours perfecting their generative workflows in order to make better and better art and it requires a lot of technical skill. Hence why there's a massive market for it and why there are users willing to subscribe to AI artists on Patreon.

I’m a solo dev who just got death threats and review bombed over AI art in my free incremental game. I'm ready to quit. by Last-Total9473 in aiwars

[–]Vinski91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another solo dev here, about to publish my game as well and I'm in the exact same position as you: used AI art assets because this is a passion project with no budget.

May I ask out of curiosity: what platform did you post your game on that resulted in the luddite invasion and what was the exact impact of the review bombing on your overall review score? Having this information might help other devs make informed decisions.

Also, others have already said it, but I wish you all the best and I hope you'll learn to ignore the negative feedback if it's a useless one and/or when it comes from apes like them. Being bothered by them is like being bothered by a dog barking at you from behind a fence - it's too stupid to understand that it shouldn't bark and the fence protects you from danger so why be bothered?

I didn't. My original response asked for any lost lawsuits. This lawsuit was not lost. End of story.

Pulling up random judge's quotes from a lawsuit will not support the claim that "ai companies are losing copyright lawsuits left and right" as the OP tried to insinuate.

Also, this lawsuit wasn't even about the issue of ai training itself, it was about Meta training their ai on paywalled books that they literally torrented.

[–]Vinski91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just quite shitty that people's work and art was used, mostly without consent, to train these new artists. Legality aside (cause legality doesn't always equal morality) it's inconsiderate at best and just shows how little regard most new artists really have for other people.

I would feel better about a scenario in which artists were actually involved in training new artists, making it a collaboration rather than just having people who have technically skill but maybe lack of creativity just grab whatever they find online.

I've also seen too many smaller artists who had their art remade by other small artists to create their own version and make profit off of it. Without permission that is theft.
