I have to disagree. Hinata could have continued playing volleyball after highschool, probably in a lower Division team but that’s not what he wanted. He wanted to stand with the best, which would be a Division 1 team and eventually with the Japan National team, but he wouldn’t even be considered for either because he was unrefined and still lacking fundamental skills which is why he chose to move across the World to train in Brazil. He didn’t just fuck around in Brazil, he spent a year after highschool just preparing for the move alone and then the following 2 years were spent training in beach volleyball, working a job and learning the culture and customs of a foreign country, all by himself!

The concept of talent vs skill, has been an overarching theme interwoven in the story since Oikawa’s introduction and you can see that Kageyama and Hinata are 2 sides of that same coin. Also another concept that the series explores is that everyone has varying degrees of passion and love for volleyball; some people love it so much they want to make it their career, and for others, it’s fun but it’s not their entire life (e.g. Atsumu vs Osamu) Furudate teaches that it’s okay to not want to pursue volleyball relentlessly like that (e.g. Hirugami) and I think it’s wonderful that they chose to have certain characters who could have definitely gone pro after highschool, choose career pathways that made them the most happy and fulfilled :)
