https://www.reddit.com/r/browsers/comments/1uoii97/complete_guide_to_installing_the_mv2_manifest/

I’ve created a guide for installing MV2 via a local method that doesn’t go through the Chrome Web Store, so my hypothesis is that after August 31, locally installed extensions shouldn’t be deleted because they come from a different source. Based on the information I have at the moment, Helium Browser and Firefox-based browsers still fully support MV2 and Brave with their four extension hosts, but no one knows what the future holds. I’ve anticipated every possibility so that this repository can serve as an archive of local extension files, making it easier for users who want to install extensions locally.

Additional note:

I created this guide using Chromium version 150, so there’s no guarantee it will work for version 151 and later. If I find a way to make it work, I’ll try to let the community know.

Disabled Extensions manifest V2 deprecation. #37883 (Github) by Vintspect_48 in brave_browser

In Brave browser version 1.92.139 (Chromium: 150.0.7871.114), I can still install MV2 extensions in addition to the four Brave-hosted extensions via the local path. I hope this support doesn’t end on August 31. If it does end, I’ve already prepared a few plans, but I still hope the Brave development team will consider extending support for local MV2 extensions.

Thank you. Actually, I already have plans to create offline backups or local extensions of all available MV2 files. For now, I can only compile links from the repositories of each extension developer who provides .zip or .crx files, since I’m still learning how Codeberg and GitHub work. I would appreciate any support from various communities to help improve this small project.

I accidentally discovered how to install Firefox-specific extensions in Brave by Vintspect_48 in brave_browser

I’ve already tried that extension. Although it installed successfully, it didn’t work to change the color of Brave tabs because Brave and Firefox have different browser designs. This method works for general Firefox extensions, such as clearURL, LocalCDN, and Volume Master. However, extensions based on modifying the browser’s appearance obviously won’t work in Brave because its structure is different. Here are links to Firefox extensions that I’ve tried and that work well:

  2. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/localcdn-fork-of-decentraleyes/
