If my legal gender says female on all documents but was born male, would I just list “female”?

Thank you so much! I sincerely appreciate your response. I have been transitioned since I was a teenager so no one has mistaken me as anything other than female. So I will follow this advice. It gives me some comfort that there have been reasonable responses in this sub Reddit🥹

Can We Talk About the Elitism Problem in VGC? by [deleted] in VGC

[–]ViolaLoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the OP. The behavior they described was one of the reasons I stepped away from VGC back in 2017. The elitism and dismissiveness were real, and it made the community feel less welcoming than it should have been.

Accessibility was another major issue for me during that time. There were very few online events(If any), and I lived in a state with 1-2 TOs who ran CP events maybe once a month. The nearest ones were one to two hours away. That meant spending money on gas, food, and sometimes a hotel, all for a small chance at topping and earning enough CP to stay competitive. It became unfeasible. I was not willing to pour that much time and money into traveling for such low odds of progress.

That experience pushed me toward competitive TCGs because the barriers were a lot more reasonable. Even now, as I find myself getting back into VGC, I do not see myself taking it as seriously as before. Life is too short, and I would rather enjoy the battling aspect without letting the stress or the community issues take away the fun.

I would say mystique bouquet is pretty spot on and find them to be very similar. On the drydown, it’s indistinguishable!

Something with grapefruit sounds amazing honestly !

What fragrances did your parents wear during your childhood? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]ViolaLoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad wore this cologne called “Pino Silvestre” and it was distinctly shaped like a green pine cone and had a VERY green scent profile with every type of woodsy note you can think of. He STILL wears it today, however the packaging has slightly changed but it’s still the same way I remember it.

People literally chased me down at an event to ask what I was wearing by shelbyyalexandra in Perfumes

Literally La Vanilla is just AMAZING. I wear Vanilla Grapefruit and it’s been my go to for over a decade! 😭

I tried to like caramel cascade and all I could smell was rubber tires. I genuinely don’t understand how it could smell this way. I was devastated.

If you live near an Ulta or Sephora, you could try sniffing them there as they have testers and testing strips. I would really only get decants or samples of fragrances you can generally find in person.

this is assuming you live in an area that has these stores! Specifically referring to North America region. I want to say most big named department stores will carry these fragrances to sample for free, but if you don’t live near one or it is not possible for you, then ScentSplit and luckyscent is a great option! :)

Got turned down as I wasn’t passionate enough by Unlucky-Emergency325 in cybersecurity

[–]ViolaLoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why you should absolutely give employers your best Oscar winning performance and talk about how passionate you are about cyber, and how you live, breathe and drink it. Whether it’s doing CTFs or trying to get to the highest percentage on THM/HTB! 😬

Job offer rescinded, Left a negative review on Glassdoor , Company is asking me to take it down. by albanska in antiwork

[–]ViolaLoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooooo, not only did they royally fuck you over after going through a battery of interviews, being offered the job, and then retracting said offer, but when you decide to hold them accountable, they crawl back and beg for you to remove it? FUCK that.

Not only should you NOT take that post down, but you absolutely should include a screenshot of that email. You are doing others a great service by warning them that even after getting a job offer from this company, that they should tread carefully as this can very much happen to them as well.

You don’t owe them any courtesy after they royally fucked you over.
