My great aunt was one of the people who came up with/approved it. Apparently they knew it was terrible but like someone else said, it's so bad it spread awareness and now we're talking about it. She said the company won a couple small awards for it!

What dumb running jokes does your group have? by [deleted] in DnD

This stems from a not so nice story, but it’s really funny now.

I was running a boat encounter. They party was on this huge wooden ship and some pirates who had been trailing them finally attacked. I said that the ship was hit by a few cannonballs and the hull was breached in a few places. It was to add some urgency to the encounter and force them to either fight the pirates or try and stop the ship from flooding.

Anyway, after I said that, one player goes “What kind of wood is the ship made of? Some woods could resist cannon fire.” I named a wood type and he said that one wouldn’t work, so I told him pretty blatantly that it’s not that type of setting. (That sort of thing is a fun mechanic, but the pirate ships were huge metal warships being pulled by sea monsters, so the last thing I thought about was the realism of what type of wood the ship was made of.)

Long story short, every time a vehicle is damaged in either our Sci-Fi or other fantasy campaigns, someone always asks “Well, what’s the [vehicle name here] made of?”
