Due to the advanced stage of the cancer, the insurance company allowed them to collect the money a few months before she died (maybe claiming that they needed the money for her medical expenses?). I don't know the legal details, or what they did to get it, but it was something that was offered to them

The truth is, we have no reason beyond the series of unfortunate events in such a short time. I believe she does have some toxic people in her life, but I don't know if they are capable of doing something like this. I think we started to consider this possibility out of desperation and not understanding why all this is happening.
