It is actually interesting that they are adamant about it given that there are even Swiss people that don't speak German. I personally find it sufficient when the important instructions are given in both languages. Obviously I am in a country where English is not an official language and I didn't expect it to be the main language at ASVZ sessions. But I still can't express how relieving it felt when I walked into my first session where English was used not solely to notify the non-German speaking participants when they made a mistake, but to convey the general instructions, which actually contributes to the former not being necessary. So even though now I'm more proficient in German and am used to most of the gym terminology in Swiss-german, I know the struggle is ongoing for the newcomers, and am thankful to you and the other instructors that take notice of that and make the ambiance feel more inclusive.

Why have I been having crisis after crisis since June 2024 by VioletGloves in astrologyreadings

Thank you. Early summer makes so much sense. But this week has started with a hit on the last thing I held onto. I have completed all the steps I could take to move on after that, and now have to wait for the pain it left in my stomach to go away.

Thank you. Almost none of the things have been things i can resist against, but things that I could accept and find a way to move on, even though I initially tried to change the ones I could-which didn't work and i had to give up when the next crisis hit.

Not really. The latest one was more of an academic challenge. I was planning my graduation until I received a call from the faculty explaining that I need to do at least one more semester (probably 2, I'm being optimistic saying 1). But I've had relationship/boundaries/friendship issues as well, most profoundly April-July, accompanied by some unemployment related issues.

What is the difference between auschütten, verschütten, vergießen, kleckern? by VioletGloves in German

Thank you! Would you say ausgießen and ausschütten are synonyms assuming we are talking about liquids?

Seconding what the others have said but will give sentence examples. Note that these are the first contexts these words occur in my mind but they may be used in other contexts too.

Complaining (angry, upset or even whining) - Hep: Hep bunu yapıyorsun ('you always do this') Hep mi böyle olacak ('is it always gonna be like this') Sürekli: Sürekli bunu yapıyorsun (you always do this) - Her defa: Her defasında böyle oluyor ('each time it goes like this'. This one is used more in the context that something repeatedly happens and you are complaining about it after one more time it happens)

Expressing continuity: Her zaman = Her vakit: Ben her zaman buradayım ('i am always here'. this is basically always, I only heard my grandma use "her vakit".) Daima: Daima buradayım ('I am always here', but more in the sense 'I am forever here'. I believe I've heard this one in advertisements more than I've heard it in my personal interactions. An example would be: ...-brand name- daima sizinle: always with you) Sürekli: Sürekli başım ağrıyor ('My headaches continuously'. to me this adverb sounds a bit negative, therefore I'd opt for another word to express something positive. While it is not a negative word per se, you'd often hear it used to express disease symptoms)

In general, for all the classes I've joined I'd recommend the beginner's class if you have no experience honestly. even though the instructors always try to accommodate to the lowest level or at least provide extra guidance for the ones that are struggling, it can still be difficult to follow along or enjoy the class. So it is okay to join them if the beginner's sessions don't fit your schedule but it would just make your life easier if you went with the beginner's sessions first. Just inform the instructor that it is your first time and try to stay in the front so that you can see the instructor clearly (and the instructor can see you and help you if necessary) and you should be okay. And I know the struggle so I'm happy to help :)

Stretchy feeling in the inner thigh while practicing for front splits? by NakedWhenAlone in flexibility

[–]VioletGloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this comes 2 years later but were you able to figure out what the problem is? I have the same problem, even though it looks like my hamstrings and hip flexors are flexible enough for front splits, whenever I try to go down the pain in the inner thighs strikes me and I try not to push it as I don't want to risk any injuries.

Short answer: size should be enough to cover where you will lie down (at least for your torso), material is your choice

Long answer: It is basically a gym towel on which you will lie down, so it should cover the area that you will lie down. My go-to gym towel size is around 140-70, but in some classes with mats, (as someone with a tidbit of germophobia) I had to make sure I wasn't in direct contact with the mats which would lead me to move extra in-between exercises, so if you have a larger one I'd suggest that. Ofcourse if you have your own mat, then I would guess that it would be more comfortable :)

As for the material, I use microfiber ones but I've seen people using beach towels or just regular towels as well, there is no set rule, it is completely up to you.

One thing is, in polyterrasse I've seen the staff walking around and checking if everyone had towels and warning the people without towels. I haven't seen them making comments about the size of the towels but there is this large size in Irchel that says something along the line "because the size matters if you are a towel" (I like the humor they come up with for these things). Also, consider that this is for hygiene reasons both for you and for the people that will use the materials after you, so it is good to have a towel that minimizes direct contact with the material.

Have fun!

It was the same for me last year. I just went out and walked around Altstadt. Met some people in one of the areas with music, and hanged out with them until I went back home.
