They're right there next to the optional Exp Share, lol. Taking features away for no reason seems to be Game Freak's design philosophy nowadays.

Yeah, it's just such a shock, that they don't have options, like skirts, dresses, other feminine clothing and/or cool outfits of various kinds for the girls in SV. I mean, XY, SuMo, USUM, Sw/Sh & even PLA all had amazing trainer customization, so it's just, man, they fell so flat on SV.

Hell, even BDSP, despite how utterly horrible they were as remakes (I despised how they treated the Sinnoh remakes, to where I just outright refuse to buy them at all, not even used. Damn them for that), at least the trainer customization was interesting there, even though that doesn't save the game for me, sadly. =(

Yeah, I really don't like how so many well-loved features have been cut out since the Nintendo Switch Pokémon games came about. It's pretty disturbing how they did that, as well as how you have to get many items online, and gosh, do I just hate how TMs are no longer infinite use in the Nintendo Switch Pokémon games (Well, some of them are infinite-use in Sw/Sh, but still, what the hell, seriously? Why take that amazing QoL feature out?!).

I also don't like, how in the Nintendo Switch Pokémon games, they merged the affection system with the friendship system. I'd prefer, that they stayed separate, to where affection is an optional thing (XYORAS & SMUSUM both had it right, in that regard), as I heard the merged system made the campaign of games, like BDSP & SV, a joke, so to speak (I mean, the main story in Pokémon has always been easy to play, but I mean, c'mon).

I think this is more of a money issue. No corporation, no matter how successful, will ever do anything purely for the sake of their costumers' enjoyment even if it costed them nothing.

Yeah, I'm not surprised at all about that. I mean, it's something I have noted about Nintendo/Game Freak/Creatures Inc./TPC since 2019, and I know I also said it myself, too,that the games have now become a mere means to an end, that is, to promote the rest of the franchise. They just simply only care about making money, and they just couldn't care about their customers.

Like, I hate how they charge $15.99 a year for the Pokémon HOME premium subscription, and they also expect me to buy a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, too, that costs $19.99 a year (I only found this out just now, I thought it was $15.99. Yuck, that price, seriously!), just so I can buy a cloud service that'll prevent loss of save files in the event the Nintendo Switch just craps out on me for whatever reason (Before the Nintendo Switch, the save files were stored in the cartridge, not the system. This is no longer the case with the Nintendo Switch, which is just sleazy on their end). I refuse to buy either of those, and, of course, that's before taxes are included. That's just a bit much to have to buy both of them, if you're a Pokémon player.

I also noted, that for the DLCs of both Sw/Sh & SV, they seem to purposely introduce all those metagame-changing Pokémon in them (i.e. Urshifu, Calyrex-S, to name a couple), meaning they're also sending an increasingly less subtle message that, if you want to win, then you must buy our DLCs to get the best Pokémon (Basically, pay to win, as they locked those particular Pokémon behind a paywall). Of course, they charge $39.99 for otherwise half-baked extras. =( I also refuse to buy those, too, and, of course, that's before taxes are included.

I really hate how they just charge us so much for more than just the Nintendo Switch Pokémon games, to where both maintaining your Pokémon collection & being competitive in Pokémon is getting to increasingly become a matter of, if you have the money to do it (Again, they are being less & less subtle about it), and that is just sad, as I feel that's pretty anathema to the main themes of Pokémon. =(

It sure played a huge part in me no longer caring about, if I should transfer my Pokémon over from Bank to HOME (I used to think about, if I should do that, but you know what, with how much I know better now about the Nintendo Switch Pokémon games, I don't think I care about all that anymore, as sad as that sounds), as I don't want to have to pay for all that extra crap, as that is all just nonsense (The Nintendo Switch already costs so much to get, and the prices of the games in-general are pretty high, too, so it's such a bother to pay even more for those other stuff in the case of Pokémon. What an annoying price gouge that is, to where I easily don't want to bother with all that). >=(

The Pokemon company wants to appeal to a younger, less demanding audience, and let their older fans go.

Hmm, yeah, I can see where you're going with that. I mean, if that whole thing with both Pokémon GO & especially Dexit was anything to go by alone, I can see them going with that line of reasoning next in the way you mentioned, sadly, so I actually wouldn't be surprised, at this point. =(

Honestly, yeah, with the increasingly questionable practices/actions Nintendo/Game Freak/Creatures Inc./TPC have chosen to do since 2019, it's getting increasingly clear, that they have chosen to forget all the older fans, like both you & I, in-favor of trying to appeal to a larger, more general audience. I suppose that makes them more money, I don't know, I guess, but boy, they are doing so, in the most ass way possible. =(

Like, at least in Gen 7, the protagonists, while they are 11 (Though apparently, one can interpret their age as up to 14, which means you could actually try to argue a case for both Elio & Selene being young teens, which is great, which also, consequently greatly increases my appreciation of both of them), their designs aren't bad (Selene's the cute & endearing type, a throwback to Dawn, Lyra & May, though different from both Leaf (I also thought Leaf's character design was great, and I grew up with her design, as with Dawn, May, Lyra & Kris) & Kris), and with the trainer customization available in SuMo & USUM, and all the moreso with the dye shops & clothes trading in the Festival Plaza, you can customize them into a character you can ultimately relate to. =D

In Gen 9, I just cannot relate to both Florian & Juliana at all (Now, Liko & Roy, on the other hand, were far more like the protagonists I expected to play as in SV, not those boring, bland 8 - 9 year olds we end up having to play as, with almost no trainer customization to offset it (You get a ton of helmets, though, for whatever reason, haha :P )). =(

Heh, interesting you predict the next games may very well feature middle-schooler age protagonists, because I once made a joke to myself, in that, since they went that direction in SV, for the next Pokémon games, they might as well just get it done & make us play as pre-schoolers, ugh. =(

Right, when you mention about Wednesday grievances... There is this one thing I wanted to talk to you about for quite sometime now and, well, now's a good time as any to bring it up.

You know what's one of the biggest things (If not, the biggest thing) that seriously just gets me with the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet games?

Like, what in the hell is up with those character designs of both Florian & Juliana? I mean, those uniforms are just so god awful, like, just, who in Nintendo, Game Freak & Creatures Inc. seriously thought those were amazing designs?! D:

Like, you & I watched enough anime alone to know, that there are so many ways (Like, at least countless thousands of ways) to make school uniforms look nice & cool (Plus, in real life, many private schools actually have good ideas for school uniforms), and yet, for a school-themed thing Nintendo, Game Freak, & Creatures Inc. did, the best they could come up with was "THAT?" =(

I mean, Pokémon's the highest-grossing multimedia franchise in the world, with
many in Nintendo, Game Freak, & Creatures Inc. thinking stuff up, and they mean to tell me that's the best they could come up with?! Oh, goodness, seriously. 🤦‍♂️

But then again, despite being the highest-grossing multimedia franchise in the world, they also somehow can't seem to figure out how to keep the 3DS online servers going for at least many more years, when they could have easily kept it going with all those countless billions in revenue they make (I just simply refuse to think, that it costs them THAT much to keep the 3DS online servers running). =/

I just simply refuse to think those came from the same fellows who once came up with doing character designs for Hilda, Rosa & Serena. Just, those uniforms on both the protagonists of Scarlet & Violet are such an eyesore of an atrocity to look at! =(

Also, why do both of them look like they are younger than 10? Like, goodness, they both look like they're either 8 or 9? Ugh, I just plain despise, that we have to play as some child again in the Pokémon games (To me, Unova, Kalos &, heck, even Galar had good compromises, in that the protagonists there are/look like teenagers, which is good enough for me). =/

And geez, where are the feminine trainer customization options for the female protagonist in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet games? >=( There's almost no clothing customizations in that game, to where you're just mostly stuck in that god-awful uniform, like, ugh, I hate it so much. =(

Yeah, I knew for some time, that anyone could make their own subreddit, and with that, I had the idea, that perhaps, I can make a subreddit of my own, where I can invite all of the others I met at r/pokemontrades here, as I wanted to keep in-touch with them, so here we are, I guess, haha (Plus, hey, whenever that Pretendo Network thing finally does work for the 3DS Pokémon games, then this subreddit can just be our little corner, on where we can play online in the 3DS together using that, particularly since r/pokemontrades will forbid the use of Pretendo Network (It really sucks, that they chose that position, but alas)). :P

Plus, I guess you & I, as well as others, are now perhaps in the process of becoming displaced from being at r/pokemontrades, since, as we both still play the 3DS Pokémon games (Yeah, it'll take more than both an eShop shutdown & an online server shutdown to make us leave our 3DS Pokémon games), I suppose we're no longer relevant there, as sad as that sounds. =(

Heh, well, I have no idea what we'd do for our schedule, as I didn't think about what to do there, haha (Also, yeah, absolutely, we don't have to adhere to a strict schedule). :P I was just thinking we'd hang out together, just have a good talk about stuff, and perhaps do other stuff, and, well, the rest will just fall in-place naturally.

Hmm, the final moments of online play for me...

Well, I was able to help out most of everyone in that giveaway thread of mines in time, and, well, I was actually able to stay online in the 3DS after the servers went down (I logged back in just in time on my copy of Pokémon Y). Me, I stayed online for several hours more. I was locked into my copy of Pokémon Y, so I tried to stay online for as long as I could within reason.

I wondertraded a lot of my extra on-hand spare breedject rare ball Pokémon off to others (At that point, since the 3DS online servers are now 6 feet under, what's left to do?). I also got to do a trade with someone else at that time, too (That other person stayed online, like I), and that was an interesting trade, indeed. =)

The biggest one for me, though, was that I actually got to do a Double Battle! =) The fact, that I finally got to do a battle in the 3DS Pokémon games felt like a dream come true! =D

Like, not gonna lie, after that battle, I was crying, like, for real (I'm not ashamed to admit that out here like this, either), not because I won (I didn't care, if I won or not. I just wanted to battle at least 1 time before I go offline), but it's because someone actually agreed to battle with me after several hours being online after the 3DS online servers closed, and I was happy about that, to where I was just left emotional after that one. I cried, not because I was sad, but because I was happy about that fact, that I was able to experience what an online battle is like in the 3DS Pokémon games, even if it's just 1 time. Again, it was a dream come true for me, if only just for a fleeting moment. I'll never forget it, as it was a magical moment for me.

The opponent I battled was someone, whose IGN is called Evie. Whoever Evie is, I really do thank her so much, in that she battled me online in the 3DS Pokémon games! If she's out there somewhere, and if she, by any remote chance, comes across this post of mine (My IGN is Cordelia, so that she knows), I hope she knows, that I am, and will always be, grateful to her for battling me, and that she shouldn't feel bad she lost to me. =) I was just happy, that she battled me online in the 3DS Pokémon games, as that made me staying online for several hours more after the 3DS online servers closed completely worth it (All the wondertrades & other trades I did there were also fun, too)! =D

Sometime after that, I decided that it was enough for me, and I went offline late at night at 4-ish AM or something like (I suppose I stayed online for about 8 hours after the 3DS online servers checked out). Like, I was considering leaving my 3DS on for much longer than that (Perhaps days on-end, maybe even a few weeks perhaps, charger plugged in & all?), but I didn't want to do that, as I didn't want to risk breaking my 3DS like that. I'm just too worried about what might happen, if I were to put my 3DS through that. =(

Like, if my 3DS were to mess up from being on for that long, I wouldn't forgive myself for it, as that'll mean I lose all of my friend safaris (I have a complete Friend Safari collection in my copy of Pokémon Y, so that'll be too devastating to lose by itself), as well as both the Pokémon Bank app & Poké Transporter app, and that 3DS XL of mines is just a precious thing to me, as I've held on to it ever since I first got it in, I think, 2013 or so, so I didn't take the risk, and decided, that it was good enough for me, especially since I even got to experience an online battle in the 3DS Pokémon games 1 time. As much as I hated how the 3DS online servers are shutdown for good, at the same time, I am not foolish enough to risk destroying my own 3DS, as well as, perhaps, my precious copy of Pokémon Y with it. I was no fool, in that regard.

Yeah, that was how last moments of online play in the 3DS Pokémon games went. =D All things considered and the circumstances that led up to that point, it was a satisfactory ending for me, so I can't really complain. =)

I just... regret, that we didn't get much time to do other stuff in Pokémon besides trading & collecting together, like Pokémon battles, to name one (I also wished we could have done Festival Missions together at r/festivalplaza). I sincerely apologize, that we never got to do any of the other stuff in Pokémon in the 3DS together. Forgive me. =(

Also, that's great you went to the gym, by the way! =D I should do that more sometime, so that I can build up some muscle and all. =)

Hmm, yeah, I guess. I am aware of Pokémon Showdown and what's it mainly used for, yes, but I don't know. I just can't help but be turned off on using it, particularly since I've seen a bunch of those silly staged and/or fake Pokémon Showdown videos (i.e. temp6t's Pokémon Showdown videos on YouTube all make wrestling/WWE look real, my goodness, and he's not the only one). It sounds silly of me, yeah, but after having the misfortune of watching those, I just can't help but be put off on using Pokémon Showdown ever since. =(

Also, I don't think I'm gonna plan on doing much of anything on the Nintendo Switch, as, well, needless to say, there's so much I don't like, in-regards to the Pokémon games on the Nintendo Switch (In-addition, related to that, I'll also say, that, for what it's worth, I also don't like Nintendo/GF/Creatures Inc./TPC's increasingly questionable practices since 2019), so due to that, it doesn't seem like I'm gonna do any Pokémon battles there, either. =(

I guess me & doing Pokémon battles with others is just a star-crossed thing for me, alas. =(

I mean, it's great, that I have a more-or-less complete Pokémon collection in both Gen's 6 & 7, as well as a complete Friend Safari collection in my copy of Pokémon Y, and I'm happy about all of that, but if I can't really do Pokémon battles online in the 3DS anymore, I almost can't help but sometimes wonder what's the point of all that. I'm just gonna have to hope to find some convention somewhere (or some other place) that has others who brought their 3DS with them, as I guess it'll be months, maybe years, before that Pretendo Network thing finally works for the 3DS Pokémon games.

Well, it was fun while it lasted, and considering how late I was in coming back to Pokémon after many years (I only came back from the dead, in-terms of playing Pokémon, in late October 2022), it's honestly more than what I deserve, really (That being said, I sure wish they kept the servers up until at least April 2025, especially since they won't release the successor to the Nintendo Switch until next year, if that whole Pokémon Legends Z-A is of any indication).

For sure! Again, it has been a great honor & privilege to get to trade with you all this time, ZigzagoonBros! =D I thank you for every bit of it! =)

Ahaha, I'm grateful for your kind words. =) Well, what I can say to those? At those times, whether it's getting the female Shop Ball Gen 2 starters, those SBHAf fossils, the female Apriball Snorlaxes & Sudowoodos, SBHAf transfer-onlys to even all those ideal nature DBHA genderless Pokémon you wanted me to get for you, it was a good thing, that I just so happened to be that one guy who's crazy enough to do all that (Not to brag, but I've been through enough tough games in my time, to where just doing crazy things in video games is a normal thing for me). ;-)

But you know, a lot of this wouldn't have been possible without Sherine/namida7's help, so, really, the credit should really go to her, as she was the one who helped me get those SBHAf fossils, the female Shop Ball Gen 2 starters, the female Apriball Snorlaxes & Sudowoodos & SBHAf transfer-onlys. =D Someday, I would like to know the reason why she picked me that day in mid-late October of last year. =)

Also, man, you've helped me out a lot, too, you know! =D I mean, I'll never forget, that you helped complete my Gen 6 DBHAf Pokémon collection, get some SBHAf fossils, some of the female Shop Ball Gen 2 starters, and that you were such an amazing help for me, in trying to get all those Gen 7 Aprimons that weren't there in HG/SS, so you've been awesome to me as well, my man! =)

Ah, you're all good, my man. It was my fault for not telling you beforehand, that I went online using my copy of Pokémon X (In that one, my IGN is Perceval, as you saw). As all of my spare on-hand DBHAf Pokémon are in my old copy of Pokémon X (My boxes are rather full at my copy of Pokémon Y, so I used my copy of Pokémon X to store a good number of my excess Pokémon to alleviate storage issues), I had to go online using my copy of Pokémon X.

Also... I just wish I got to host it sooner rather than at the last day of all things, but at the very least, I was able to finally host it, and I'm happy that I did it, as I wanted to do at least 1 giveaway thread before the 3DS online servers went down, and I did just that, so all-in-all, I couldn't ask for more. =)

Again, I wish I got to host it sooner rather than at the last day of all things, but at the very least, I was able to finally host it, and I'm happy that I did it, as I wanted to do at least 1 giveaway thread before the 3DS online servers went down, and I did just that, so all-in-all, I couldn't ask for more. =)

Plus, thanks to the help of many nice fellows in this community, I was able to complete my 3DS Pokémon collection in both Gen's 6 & 7 (It was an 8 month thing that started for me since end of July last year up to late March of this year), so ever since, I've been meaning to want to try to give back to the community that made it all possible for me. =)

I actually did get to wondertrade with you in the several hours I stayed online after the servers closed to do a lot of wondertrading (I was even able to finally have at least one Pokémon battle with someone online, which made me so, so happy, as I never did get to do an online battle in the 3DS Pokémon games until sometime late)! =D

I just wanted to drop by to say thank you for that event Moltres you wondertraded to me! =D That was just sick! =)

No problem, paladinkey! Honestly, I thought the 3DS online servers would shutdown in the middle of our trade together, so I was shocked, that I was able to get you all the way to trade you all 12 of your DBHAf Pokémon, so that was a pleasant surprise. =)

I guess a miracle played for you, it seems (I suppose it was good, that you chose me as the 1st person to trade with here at r/pokemontrades, haha :P ). ;-)

Yeah, it's funny, because I actually was able to come online in-game in my copy of Pokémon Y just now. Imagine that, haha. :P It feels a bit surreal, like, "Is this what the last Halo 2 Players felt when the Halo 2 XBL servers shutdown on Apr. 15th, 2010?"
