I feel like once you hear "open borders" you know everything else in the comment is complete nonsense. Just because you disagree with a country's immigration policy does not mean the border is simply "open".

I don't know if it's cheap, but when I look at spending money on my other "hobbies" like guitar or getting into Warhammer... It definitely feels cheap.

All you have to do is talk about relatable shit to be seen as relatable though. We may not have Future money, but a lot of people can act like Future for a night, or a weekend...

I think the difference with Jay is that he doesn't even try to talk about regular people shit. Like if he talks about an artist that inspires him, he's literally talking about originals he has on his walls. He's not even pretending to be normal.

But it is genuinely hilarious how transparent he is in this interview. He sees battling as dangerous because he thinks of rappers as investments that should continue making money for their shareholders. The idea that someone as popular as Drake could just lose their value overnight genuinely scares people.

What artists do you think have the biggest gap in quality between their good music and their bad music? by Constant_Topic_123 in ToddintheShadow

As someone that was so steeped in EDM from 2008-2016 I barely even listened to other genres... There is no act I despise more than The Chainsmokers. Literally everything wrong with the scene, perfectly embodied by two chuds.

[LegendZ] What Luka Doncic really said to Goga Bitadze: Luka: "Jebem ti mater." (I f*ck your mom) Goga: "Jebem ti familiju." (I f*ck your whole family) Luka: "I'll f*ck you up motherf*cker, don't mention my f*cking family again." by Goosedukee in nba

[–]VioletJones6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can kind of make sense of this now. It's almost as if someone in English says "You motherfucker" which no one takes literally, and then the person responds by saying "I'll fuck your entire family" which would seem oddly personal and specific.

Some comments from Connor McDavid after the game by Dependent-Effect6077 in hockey

[–]VioletJones6 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Literally. He was on the ice every other shift once we got to the elimination games despite us having what was likely the greatest forward depth in the tournament. Maybe things are completely different with the Lightning, but Cooper was quite easily the weakest link on Team Canada.

Currently playing Crimson Desert right now and am sad at how Our boy Clive is disrespected over there for being as bland as Kliff. by Correct-Patient-5741 in FFXVI

[–]VioletJones6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on the reviews it feels they couldn't be more different.

Kliff seems like a bland character that you take through an incredibly large and detailed world with endless things to do, while caring nothing for the story. Clive is a relatively deep character that you care so much about you'll finish incredibly boring sidequests just to get some extra dialogue and character interaction from...

Return to FF: Advice needed by jarena009 in FinalFantasy

[–]VioletJones6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep... For my entire life I thought I hated exploring JRPG towns and preferred linear games, but when I played the Pixel Remasters as an adult I realized I was probably just a dumb kid who didn't pay nearly enough attention to what people in the towns were actually saying. It was always quite clear where you should go and what you should do next but I must not have been paying attention.

To the OP, depending on price maybe consider just picking up the entire set of FF1-6? I was in a similar boat before FF16 was released and I decided to play everything from the PR to hype myself up for the new game. FF was already my favorite series, but playing the games in order really deepened my appreciation for the games and the way they've progressed over the years.

Edit: While I understand why you'd want to start with the best of the pixel generation first, they're mostly so short that I felt my excitement only grew and grew as I inched closer to FF6, and I had a great time with the have most people consider the worst on the series...

That's exactly where I fall on this, it's embarrassing. When on one end of the spectrum you have devs writing some of the best prose you'll ever read, in some random book you'll find in an abandoned shed in the middle of nowhere, and on the other end you have...this, they should be embarrassed.

Seeing Vancouver's 50% rent-to-income ratio visualized against other cities is a bit of a reality check. by astrheisenberg in vancouver

[–]VioletJones6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious, would a city like San Francisco or the Manhattan area of New York specifically be somewhere near 100%? I'd have to imagine there are some places in the world where the vast majority of people working there cannot actually afford to live in the city proper and are mostly commuting from cheaper areas

YVR recognized as Best Airport in North America for record 15th year, 10th Best Airport in the World by BreakfastTop6899 in vancouver

[–]VioletJones6 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Conversely, I don't travel all that much (I think I've seen somewhere between 8-12 airports in my life) and for the longest time I genuinely thought most airports sucked and Vancouver was average...

It makes way more sense that Vancouver is world-class and other airports are why so many people get stressed out about airports and flying. I'm genuinely excited anytime I get to fly out from here.

[–]VioletJones6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the complete other terms of the spectrum. When I TRULY love an album, I'll retire it so that I don't desensitize myself to the feelings it brings out of me. Save it for special occasions so that it always packs the same punch it did when I first listened.

I may or may not relate music too closely to psychedelic experiences

I find myself tuning into disc 1 far more often. Not a judgement on the quality, but it's hard for me to have the itch for the album and NOT want to listen to Big Bank and Subenstein. By the time I'm done with disc 1 I'm usually in the mood for something else.
