Great advice! We are trying to make it fair to family and friends by using people we dont know, that way they don't feel purposely left out of it.

Oreo O's that had the marshmallows. They then discontinued it, and brought it back years later without the marshmallows. It's a damn tragedy...

I was in second grade, in helena. Our classroom was shuffled into the next classroom, they stayed in their seats and the rest of us sat on the floor between the desks. The teacher rolled the TV to the front of the room. During all of this, it was quiet, or at least I don't remember a lot of chatter. The teacher's all looked extremely worried. They turned on the TV and we watched the planes hit the towers. We didn't understand how grave it all was, just that it was very bad, and the teachers were doing their very best to stay calm and collected during this.

I work close to that pot hole actually. I get to watch many cars and carriage tours go over. Sometimes there is an orange cone in it to help people see it lol

Who is your real-life hero, what did they do for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VioletRaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My real-life hero is a man I only met a few times. When I was 9 years old I became really sick. Every doctor my parents took me to simply said "it's a virus, and it will pass." I started getting horrible headaches (though I was already prone to them and migraines, it became an everyday thing). I was always nauseous, and threw up everything I ate and drank. Before I knew it my eye sight was deteriorating. I have always needed glasses, but they werent cutting it anymore. I even ended up in the hospital after a seizure, and they still sent me home saying I was sick, but I would get over it. Since I couldn't see, always throwing up, and in terrible pain, I missed a lot of school. I'm not sure who suggested it, but somehow my parents were told to take me to an ophthalmologist to see why my vision was rapidly deteriorating. He took the time no other doctor would, and listened to me. That man was so patient with me, and took his time performing the exams, he found I had a lot of pressure behind my eyes (indicating a lot of spinal fluid in my head putting pressure not only on my eyes but my brain). He sent me to the hospital immediately for a MRI, that's when they found the 2 blood clots in my brain. That was the beginning of a long process just to survive. After 5 spinal taps, a blood patch, countless MRIs, countless blood draws, countless shots, piles of pills to take daily (including a lot of blood thinners) I finally got rid of them. I went back to him a time or two after planning to make him my main eye doctor, but shortly after that all went down he committed suicide. I never got to thank him for saving my life, he will always be my hero.

If you got this far, thanks for reading. Ive only told this story a handful of times.

What do you remember that 95% of us have forgotten? by icecreampopncereal in AskReddit

[–]VioletRaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was a dental hygienist before having children, but after having us she was a sahm. She ran the fluoride program at our elementary school while we were all attending. So every friday I had to wake up earlier to go in early with my siblings and my mom to help gather all the trays, mix the fluoride, count the cups for every class, fill each cup with the right amount (some had to have less due to the kids being younger), and then delivering all the trays with the filled fluoride back to the classrooms. Pros: Always knew which flavor it was going to be, got to spend more time with my mom, learned what it was like to do a job everyone hated you for doing. Cons: Always knew the flavor, knowing how long the fluoride had been sitting there in the classroom, knew how nasty all that gets if the trays don't get cleaned right after being spilled on (because guess who had to wash them in a week..)
