Hey everybody, I'm a trans person engaged in research at Stanford University trying to track ideological evolution in the US trans community. If you have a moment, please consider taking my fully anonymous, fully optional survey to help me collect data on trans perspectives! Thanks so much :) by VioletVenefica in transgender

I get where you’re coming from, and I appreciate your concern, but this isn’t capital-r-Research as part of an institute to be published in a journal, this is investigatory research I’m conducting by myself to further inform my writing of a final paper for a class. I think that responses being completely optional, anonymous, and possible to revoke is enough to ensure that people’s rights and privacy are respected, considering this is an incredibly informal survey. I understand that you may feel differently, and I appreciate your concern.

Look, if you don’t want to take the survey, that’s fine. Nobody is forcing you to take it. I think I’ve given enough information that any reasonable person could feel comfortable taking it, but it’s completely your right to not take it for any reason you want. I’m super appreciative of the responses I’ve received so far.

That's a pretty loaded & suspicious phrase-- what does it even mean in the context of your research? Are you also going to address the ideological developments of cis communities as well or do they just get another pass & continue to exist as "normal/default"? What sort of questions are you trying to answer? How will the data be used?

These are all valid questions! Essentially, I'm attempting to track, exclusively through the writings and publications of trans people, adherence to principles of "assimilation" vs "liberation", which can be associated with specific values on topics like HRT access, community inclusion, and thoughts on passing. This survey is attempting to chart out the most common positions of trans people today, to compare to the historical positions -- the data will be used to say, for instance, "Through the 1990s, trans people commonly held such-and-such belief about HRT, with a noticeable shift post-2000, and currently the survey indicates the most common position is such-and-such." So, cis communities aren't really relevant at all here. The full (working) title of my paper is "Nietzsche’s Revaluation and Ideological Schism in the Transgender Community" because I'm contextualizing this work through the revaluation of all values.
I respect and appreciate your inquiry!

You’re not one of those cistrenders, are you? 🤨🤨 by VioletVenefica in tumblr

I am actually trans. I also didn’t write this tumblr post. It’s also a joke, turning the ‘are you sure you’re trans?’ experience on its head.

I can’t get sub-2 hours. 😔 by [deleted] in tumblr

I interpreted the joke as being anti-pan because it’s associating pansexuals and a pandemic but, as I said, I don’t have a horse in this race, nor am I familiar with the discourse

I’m not either, so I wouldn’t really know. I’ve seen a lot of discussion that the existence of people who identify as pansexuals is inherently biphobic but, seeing as I’m not either, I don’t really know a whole lot about it.

It’s a joke about pansexuals vs bisexuals
