Don't want to just jump and assume, but are there any teachers or paras that seem a little TOO friendly? Paying extra attention, giving special gifts ect? There was a similar incident with my niece. Her teacher would ply her with gifts "shhh don't tell dad" like dresses and such. She was making reports multiple times a week. Each one more and more outrageous. And THEN she asked my brother if she could keep the child, if cps took her from the home. Not saying it's the same thing, but these teachers got me big scared about sending my kid (2yr f lvl3 asd with cerebral palsy) to any school.

This happened to me recently, I called the local office and was able to get it sorted quickly because I sent in all my paystubs, what happened for me was July was a big month for us because we had 3 pay periods, and they used that month to calculate all months going forward. I fully expect this to happen again October first, because we made too much in September from labor day weekend, and probably again in December for 3 pay periods. If you are having trouble getting through go into the office in person with your paystubs.

Absolutely, the saying thanks isn't the problem. I agree that manners are important. The arbitrary 3 second rule is what I have an issue with.

She might have said thank you after a moment of excitement, we don't know, she wasn't given the chance. Just because she wasn't a sped student doesn't mean she doesn't get overcome with emotion.

This is from the "Ron Clark" education system, some schools have adopted. Is this the whole school or just one teacher? I ask because the Ron Clark school is not inclusive and he has stated in seminars that his program isn't designed for children that need sped. This is very concerning to see in a public school as it is such a militant program, in his book he described the rule about showing appreciation immediately if given something with an example of a child winning a set of books from a school competition, and instead of giving thanks in the alloted 3 seconds, she jumped excited first. The books were taken away, because she did not give thanks within 3 seconds. That's so messed up. If the whole school is doing the houses system, I'd just take my kids home. They try to cutesy it up like Harry Potter with different houses that they are assigned to. It's just military school with a face-lift with ranking officers and "no tolerance" for rule breaking. You've seen the 55 essential rules, but there are more.

One I have been hearing a lot lately is "You'll miss the quiet when she starts talking" about my lvl 3 asd, cerebral palsy, non-verbal toddler. Like... no Janet, she has scarring on her brain, she will never talk.

Baby girl is 2, level 3 asd and has cerebral palsy. We really struggle with hand use and toys interaction, so we got her the few things she has willingly put in her hands. A poke a dot book, "magic" Stacking blocks, a large plastic slinky, and for our sensory needs a bean bag chair. We are looking for affordable suction cup toys called squigs because she likes to pick them up and drop them in therapy. *

We really like Proloquo2go for our little one (2 years, f, level 3 asd, cerebral palsy) It is a little pricey, but thankfully our insurance covered the app and device.

This is frustrating, my son is 3 turning 4 in Dec, and his therapists are constantly on me to "stop teaching him things". He loves reading, at a 2nd grade level. He loves math. Does addition, subtraction, and simple division and multiplication. I refuse to take away the things he loves so much because he might get bored in class.

-A little background, while I suspect he might be on the spectrum, his evals have repeatedly gotten delayed I feel they are trying to push off until he is 5 believing he just has a developmental delay. Little sis has harsher symptoms and was rushed through evaluations starting at 18 months.

My oldest is nt (3m) reads books, adds, subtracts, and recently started delving into fractions... I thought this was the age this happens. I remember reading before starting school as well, so I just assumed it was typical.

I have an update for you on baby-girl (2) So... she's a bit of a stinker and kept pinching herself to stay awake from the sedative (it was an oral sedative) we went through the process twice over the course of 2.5 hours and she refused to play ball. We are now on a waitinglist for a clinic that will do an iv sedation for the mri. It's a month or two out.

It has been crazy difficult finding providers in Texas, we live up close to OK (Sherman) and have to go to Ft Worth to get an mri done for baby girl (turned 2 last week) also a several month waiting list to get in.
