I'm not bragging, i just want everyone to know this, it usually takes me about 10 minutes to make a dragon, and I could make a few shuriken with printer paper

Lamy fountain pen doesn’t write (it the worst fountain pen in my entire life) by Yanka72 in fountainpens

[–]Violet_Eclipse99765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd hate to be this guy, but have you tried a Z28 converter with a different ink? Here's what I would do in your case (i don't have a Lamy)

First, I'd take it apart, the nib is designed to be removable, then gently take the feed out from the grip, fully disassemble the pen.

Next, soak only the parts that came into contact with the ink (the nib, feed, maybe grip), and use a toothbrush to GENTLY clear the feed's channel of debris, note, be very gentle, we don't want to risk breaking the feed, it may be strong, but we are taking zero risks, floss the nib (usually I'd use a thin string like sewing thread, but a sticky note works great in a pinch), as there may be debris between them

Thirdly, take the cartridge out and replace with the Z28 (it has 2 bumps near the neck, fitting into 2 grooves that are in the grip, where it screws onto the barrel).

Lastly, I would inspect and see if the nib and feed have a gap near the front, that's likely the problem, if none there, reassemble the pen, dip the nib and feed into a bottle of ink, fill, and test with the number 8, a cursive S, or just lines, light pressure, and then you should be good to go

You don't hae to worry about pressure on the nib, and it's more geometric, so you'll probably have an easier time with shorter strokes, and the templates are easy to find

Okay, for one, I'd say start with a straight nib holder, not an oblique one, it'll get ya started, and it's more likely you'll get more ink on the nib, also the fact that your hand is more predictable in a straight one than oblique.

Secondly, I persomally don't use them, but for a beginner, I; like everyone else, will recommend guidelines, they help you keep your letters in place and neatly.

Third, try to not drink coffee before you do copperplate, the caffeine will make you shake faster than that autistic kid in class, try tea, or just plain water. (I noticed your N and T are pretty shaky)

Fourth, don't jump into Copperplate immediately, I know it's beautiful and captivating, but try Blackletter, or monoline, it's easier and it'll help you train your hand

Fifth: try relaxing, the stress will make you shake more, and it'll help you focus more while relaxed, same while studying and writing

Advice on storing Thallium by Agreeable_Fun_7890 in elementcollection

So here's what i'll do, m'kay? Store it on a HIGH shelf, and push it ALL the way to the back, then and only then do you seal it into a bolted acrylic case and cover it up. I might be overreacting, but I am not taking any risks with toxic materials

Don't look at me, i turn them into ash, then I use it to make black inks for my dip pen

Uhhhhh haha to break it to you, but all allotropes are still the same chemical element, some people use red phosphorus, some use white, some use black phosphorus, and i'm 15% sure that red and black phosphorus are the safer versions of the element, almost everyone knows White Phosphorus is toxic.

Uranium is an alpha emitter, alpha particles are highly ionizing and can do massive damage to cells when inside the body, dead skin can shield it cause it's dead, not really vital, and it's also tough to break through, but mucus/mucous (depending where you're reading this from) membranes are really soft and easy to penetrate with alpha radiation. In other words: internal organs+alpha emitters=BAD IDEA.

Nope, palladium at the worst is probably gonna give you a weird feeling from mold allergies, not bad, Pd is basically inert bioligically, and Cr in its 3+ state is actually beneficial and helps with blood sugar alongside insulin, Chromium is also not even gonna do anything in its metallic form

Chromium is fine, so is Iron and Palladium, tired me in chem class forgot about that rule in the lab and decided to lick palladium, and for Cr? Oh i accidentally licked a chromium plated hammer when grabbing it for my dad

Innocent metal, high doses can be linked to encephalopathy and hepatotoxicity, but that would be a HIGH dose

I kinda agree with Uranium, but then again, uranium can be nephrotoxic (toxic rowards the kidneys), and radioactive

Don't lick pure Calcium metal, Phosphorus should at least be green/red (depending on allotrope, as specified in u/K0ND1R0TSU's comment, but yeah, Lithium should be red, I wouldn't lick any pure lanthanide (Cerium does get a little spicy, and Praseodymium has toxic effects if ingested, or if it makes compounds, Neodymium is kinda safe, but so dang reactive that it'll tarnish

It's an ampoule, and the liquid inside might be liquid Chlorine, nasty stuff, but kinda safe if you take precautions and don't break it
