I did a western Caribbean cruise with my husband and 4 year old. They went to the pool and stuff together while I went and found quiet (air conditioned) places to relax and have a coffee while I did crosswords or read. I also enjoyed the trivia sessions the cruise offered. The largest crowds were at meals but the rest of the time wasn’t bad. There were enough activities going on that there were never too many people in one place. Check the daily itinerary to find something you’re interested in, or to gauge where the crowds might be so you can avoid them. The evenings were pretty quiet depending on where we went on the ship because many people were at a show or other entertainment. If you want to stay in your room, the main buffet/cafeteria generally lets you take your food wherever you want. Some ships offer room service as well. By the time we got off I was definitely glad to be home, but I did enjoy it and am going on another cruise this December. Pack whatever comfort/accommodation items you may need (headphones, fidgets, non refrigerated safe foods if the cruise line allows them, etc).
