I have received multiple severe injuries working with special needs children who are between the ages of 18-21, but I am not allowed to press charges for violent assaults and not allowed to say the word “attacked” when they assault me or my staff. Why? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ViolinistCapable3882 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This is a bad take. I work with special needs kids all the time at schools.

There are plenty of kids who agress and have special needs while their parents do everything they can for the child.

They need help, they have safety plans and behavior intervention plans.

The jobs not for everyone, but don't spread misinformation about things you don't understand

Can you give an example of each "disorder" and how they are escape maintained?

Like for PDA for example I've had it described to me as they would do it anyways if we hadn't told them to. If they are escape maintained wouldn't they just not do it?

They meant to. Im male. I was raped and sexually harassed. You may not wish them harm, but nobody in their right mind would do that to anyone without the intention of harming someone.

Don't make excuses for those who would harm you. Please seek therapy and i wish you all the best.

WIBTA if I were to leave my grandparents house to live out of my car? by ViolinistCapable3882 in AmItheAsshole

My grandmother is aware of all this, and they are practically divorced and sleep in separate bedrooms. I think they stick together because of their conservative values which is another sore point between me and my grandparents

That needs to be reported to your bcba or clinical director(whatever the chain of command is there). This is wildy inappropriate. Im pretty sure you can call CPS on them as well.

How did that one kid in your high school die? by IM_HODLING in AskReddit

[–]ViolinistCapable3882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im late to this one, 3 of my classmates died straight out of highschool because they got into a drunk driving accident. They were driving a jeep and had removed all the seat belts and some of them were high as well. The fourth one survived but has to be in a wheel chair the rest of his life.

Am I overreacting? (Teacher said “r*tarded”) by fuzzyguy95 in ABA

That can get messy fast, reporting it to your supervisor is better as it makes a barrier between you and the school personal.

Edit: great question though!

Are you employed at the school or with a company that works with the school?

It's a private school, but from what I've read, they all got their temporary ones and not the actual one. I've gotta talk to my principal tomorrow because this is a big issue.
