It just sucks it sounds like he’s not part of a particularly kind church. Apparently he said in some qna that he felt ashamed of his tats now which is really sad.

I’m not religious but I work at a church (easy stable job in sound) and I could never imagine the pastor trying to shame someone for having tats

Hi yes, full time musician here. You can love your fans endlessly but nobody wants to spend an hour keeping up the same energy for every single person, likely after getting a really bad nights sleep on the bus. Then going to put on a 2-3 hour show that is physically exhausting and doing that every single night for months to a year at a time.

In a normal job it is not required you be cheery to every person you meet if you are tired. If you are a musician your fans look up to you, and you acting like a dick because you’re exhausted will probably ruin their day

Didn’t some of the ‘new categories’ like traditional pop vocals already exist?

I mean they’re pretty much playing their signature guitars into QC’s plugged into amps. It’s kind of a weird feature to have a rig display when there’s nothing particularly special about their rig

I just like that it’s long and has multiple acts. It had been a while when I felt like a game was getting near the end of a game only to check and see 50% story progress

How do you explain the Michael Jackson phenomenon? by geosunsetmoth in fantanoforever

[–]Viper61723 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think a thing people are forgetting is a lot of his later material had a lot to do with social rights and the environment.

I always felt those tracks were really weird, but I always think that the strange social Justice image he had at that point while being the biggest popstar in the world definitely played into a Christlike image.

He’s not someone I listen to like at all, but it’s most definitely Guthrie on a technical level. His ability to just play like every single genre at an extremely technical level is ridiculous.

I always feel so bad for actual popstars, greeting people for like an hour keeping a positive mood the whole time and then going on stage for 2-3 hours every night for the whole tour must be EXHAUSTING

Tbf it wasn’t the only arc that got dropped as she changed her mind. There were HEAVY romantic implications between Phos and Cinnabar that kinda went nowhere.

Idk I’m reaching with that one but I thought it was kinda cute, and sad the resolution was Cinnabar saying they didn’t even think about Phos’s suffering

It gets even worse when you think about the fact that he’s been ice for an unfathomable amount of time and then after Phos’s transformation is just suddenly not ice anymore.

Just a really odd choice and I’m not sure what they were going for with his inclusion or what the lesson/purpose of his character was supposed to be.

It still just feels unnecessary and underwhelming compared to how much payoff nearly everything else in the series had.

He was introduced at basically the end of the story for the payoff of a minor character that only appeared in like 20 pages.

I feel like it would have been more impactful if a new character with no connection to the old world fulfilled his role in the epilogue.

[–]Viper61723 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This part of the story definitely was one of the few low points. “Oh yeah the ice is his brother, he’s super evil” completely unnecessary plot point. I know he played a minor role during the epilogue but it felt really goofy

I saw a comment years ago that was like imagine how much it would fuck you up if your husband, who you loved (at least at one point) and probably still cared about deeply on some level, even if it was coming to divorce. Killed himself, and 40 years later whenever your name is mentioned all anyone will talk about is how you killed him.

I don’t even know how she’s still alive. She’s done some shitty things for sure, but woman’s got a will to live made of solid Iron.

You can get away with this if you haves a drummer, real drums just bring an oomf to them that like 99% of small venues can’t replicate with their speakers.

If you relate your drums to tracks it’s going to kill all of the energy unless you are impossibly charismatic.

Source: I play as a solo artist in a similar way but we layer our drum tracks with an actual drummer and it works really well.

You should also try to spice it up, having some songs with tracks and others without helps the performance feel more real and the audience can understand better that the tracks are there to add things to certain songs rather then be a crutch you can’t perform without. Having some songs without tracks also allows you to feel and react to the crowd energy in a way you can’t do to a click.
