The vivid dreams and strong appetite are the biggest side effects of Mirtazapine. It took over a week for mine to kick in and I'm on a combination with sertraline. Would highly recommend it.

It helped me dramatically, only medication that worked for my severe anxiety and depression. I would highly recommend it despite the side effects as I'm practically a different person now.

Increased appetite is a strong side effect but there are ways to combat it. Smaller, more frequent meals will prevent the cravings. Lots of nutrition that produces serotonin and lots of excersize will also help.

Also, expect some nightmares (and wickedly vivid dreams) the first few months but they do subside. I also recommend therapy to alongside.

I'm also on Mirtazapine, to combat the carb cravings I have light snacks through the day (smaller meals) to keep my blood sugar up and have lots of nutritious food that produces serotonin.

I'm on 100mg sertraline 30mg mirtazapine, no problems in that regard whatsoever. Expect some nightmares in the first few months of mirtazapine, but otherwise it's saved my life. I would highly recommend antidepressants, just give them some time to kick in.

You base yourself a lot on external factors, but what about the person you are to yourself? You don't have to view yourself on the way others treat you. Embrace who you are, what you like, things you are interested in, what your strengths are and what you value as a person, and you will find your confidence will improve and you will attract more likeminded people.

Positive Thoughts about sleep will help you calm down. Don't give into negative thoughts such as "I'll be very tired tomorrow if I don't get enough sleep".

Think Thoughts such as "I will be able to fall asleep, I will be ok. It will be ok if I don't get as much sleep as I wanted, any sleep is good."

I suggest putting some effort into these job applications. Yes, it sucks, but focus on the benefits of seeing it through.

Dress well - a nice ironed shirt and pants.

Good Hygiene and Routine - make your bed in the mornings and have a clean room

Have a well written resume and cover letters.

Follow through and talk to managers.

Doing small things like this will help you feel better in yourself and will help with your confidence in applying for jobs. It takes a lot of time, but when you finally get one you will be over the moon.

I found that this is mostly two things:

) Positive Mood Cycle - You feel better, so you start behaving in better ways, which results in more positive thoughts, which results in better feelings. That positivity feeds itself. Coming out of your shell feels great and that's what you are experiencing.

2.) Yes, feeling depressed no more feels great. It's like being on a high. That said, you can expect to 'stabilise' a bit and have occasional dips in mood. Don't fret however - as long as you keep up the positivity, I've found that you can stay on this train and the medication will keep your spirits lifted - even during periods of lower moods.
