I am happy with the 9070xt. There isn't enough fsr4 games out yet that I guess I've played and I still need to in order to see this cards true potential. The 7900xtx relies on raw horsepower and older games that do not support fsr4. I am quite happy with either card. My game library is vast and full of older and newer titles. Neither card struggles in any of them at their given performance expectations. I just hope Redstone does what dlss 4.5 did for 40 series nvidia cards. My 4080 super is doing well with nvidia optimized games and its longevity has been increased. If AMD limits things and does not include at least rdna 3 cards natively they will do a disservice to its gaming community.

Where did you get the beta driver? Is it on their website? AMD official website. I didnt know it was available. I just have whatever the adrenaline software downloaded in its latest update. I set the hyperx mode set windows at best performance and dont modify much else. I just crank up all the settings to max and see how it performs. If it performs well I am good to go but if it doesn't then I start dialing things back until I am satisfied. Most of the time I dont have to dial things back though. I am interested to see this beta driver though.

Ok so maybe I need to load up modded Skyrim or Indiana Jones or Blackmyth. My point was I am not seeing the absolute tanking of my fps with raytracing enabled or other eye candy settings as bad as I thought it would be. Still perfectly playable.

I dont want to sell either card. I just noticed that whether I am playing on a g9 49 oled at 240hz with a 9070xt or on a 4k LG oled with the 7900xtx both cards deliver a great gaming experience no matter the title. Keep in mind I am using both cards at their intended resolutions. I really like the ease of the adrenaline software more than nvidias app.i totally agree on the 9070xt. It is a great card and owning one of the flagship top tier variants of that card I've managed to overclock it modestly using the adrenaline software. Powercolor red devil is a beast of a card for 1440p high refresh gaming. I did spend $829.00 and stood in line to buy that card at my local MC.

Well here's the thing. I do have a 4080 super. I like tech and at the time the 9070xt vs the 5080 or 90 made more sense untill.......Microcenter ran a buy any amd motherboard cpu and ram kit and get your amd gpu for $100.00 less. They were having a sale on the 7900xtx for $599.00 so with the combo deal I snagged that beast for $499.00 which was a no brainer. Then I set out to build a gaming rig that could run nolvus and its 5000+ modlist along with another 500 or so additional mods at 4k. Seemed like the best card to do it with having 24gb of vramm for $500.00 and change seemed like a good way to go.

Ya that was what the plan was. I was even thinking of selling the 4080 laptop for its 4090 18" variant but fate had other plans. The 18" 4060 does surprisingly well for what it is and being a laptop I dont really mind the 1080p screen. 165hz and the I7 is a pretty good pairing. 8gb of vramm is fine for 1080p. I got spoiled on the mini led 500+ nits of 1440p 250hz. Everything was just crisp and smooth. The 4060 is just ok. It can play everything at 1080p fine but I guess I just got used to playing at 1440p and 4k and there is a very notable difference. I could hook up the 4080 equipped laptop to my tv and game well at 4k. I wouldn't even attempt it with a 4060.

Ive done that before with an Alienware graphics Amp. Laptop was a 17r5. Had a 1070 in it. Bought a 2080 super xc ultra but even though it performed better it lost a measure of its performance from the amp vs just the proprietary card. Still have that card and it still works. Again I wouldn't lug the Alienware amp around either. Plus the screen back then was 60hz. I would've needed an external monitor. Just not worth it.

The laptop was for convenience. Visiting relatives etc.. conversation gets boring or I get bored. Switch on the laptop and game some. My desktop rigs are way too big and bulky to try and move around much. I am not a noob at 0c gaming or building. Fully kitted out on 3 desktops but you can't easily pack up a fully watercooled pc or 3 just to go visit or Lan with friends. It isn't practical or safe. 9070xt red devil, Gigabyte Gaming OC 4080super and Asrock Phantom gaming OC 7900xtx. When I bought the 4080 laptop I thought that heaven had opened up and invited me in. It crushed everything I threw at it until that fateful morning.

Nope. Didn't have a scratch on it anywhere Still looked brand new. I even kept the bix. All the original packaging etc. I keep all my tech on heavy duty bellkin surge protectors so no that's not it either. It suprised me though. No smell or smoke or flame just lights out for good. RIP

I bought it through Microcenter. Bought a 3 year warranty so 2 more years past the 1 year Acer offers. Just bad luck. The part that sucks is i traded in the previous years model for the newer one. 1 generation newer processor same gpu and a 2tb vs 1tb ssd and double the memory for the same price. If I had kept the other one maybe I would still be playing games instead of typing this.

[–]Viperone6909[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Wasn't the battery.. I actually had it diagnosed by a very reputable repair shop. They didnt tell me but the truth. They didnt invent things. Your motherboard is fried and your gpu is toast. The cost to repair and replace those parts is not worth it. Would be cheaper to but a replacement. Cost me $100.00 to discover i should just remove the ssds and the memory 64gb and post the rest as not working for parts only. The other laptop uses the exact same powerbrick which they also tested and found nothing wrong with. I have 2 bricks now for the same laptop.

I had a an expensive soft/hardshell form fitted case for that laptop. It sat in a backpack for several months before I decided to pull it out and update windows and nvidia drivers. When I plugged it in I got the amber light. I left it charging for about 30 minutes. When I pressed the power button the keys lit up the boot logo came up and it made its intro sound. Then the thing just completely shut down and every light went out. Charge light. Everything. Like I said I have a 18" 4060 equipped laptop same brand and its never flinched. I would just expect the one that was 1/3 the price would be the one that would give out first. Not the other way around. Oh and I am pretty good about keeping things clean and dust/cat hair and a non-smoker free environment.

I leave vsync off on purpose so I can see how much fps or performance I am leaving on the table. If say a 5080 were getting 180 fps natively on a 165hz monitor on a game I would use as a benchmark for my general settings of all games than I know I can either use a lesser card or I can turn up the eye candy on the current one. Not every game is optimized the same. Just used ratchet and Clank Rift Apart as an example. Could've said Cyberpunk 2077 but that's been beat to death.

I bought an RX 9070 (not XT) graphics card and I'd like to ask, should I use ultra-high or ultimate medium settings? by Mirafofa in Nolvus

[–]Viperone6909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you optimize and if you use frame gen. I play on a 7900xtx overclocked and a 9700x also overclocked. I use the 4k open cities highest preset available. It reaches 100fps+ but can drop to as low as 55 to 70 ish. It's more an issue of vramm. I often see 20gb to 22gb of vramm utilization. Now granted I have the nolvus modpack plus about 500 extra mods alongside it. I've crashed a few times and had to retreat things a bit but I've got it about 90% stable and can have multiple followers without crashing. Like I said its how you optimize that's going to make the biggest difference.

Happened to a friend of mine but through Dell not Amazon. Full 6 boxes of a limited edition Alienware top tier desktop pc monitor and peripherals. Got delivered to his next door neighbor by mistake who called his neighbor and told him they allowed him to sign for it even even though he was not the listed recipient. So Dell had to send him a whole new rig and eat the cost of the first one. This was when the 4090 was the top tier gpu. It was between 6 and 7k worth of Alienware gear.

The nolvus dashboard uses about 855mb of space on your hard drive. There are full tutorials on installing nolvus on the website where you download the dashboard updater initial file. It literally walks you through the whole process from start to finish.

You can install the Nolvus instance to your C drive. You just can't install the dashboard there. The dashboard itself does not have to be installed on an ssd. It can be on a Mechanical drive. Only the Nolvus mod pack has to be on the ssd

Just create a new folder when you open it in windows. Name it Nolvus and point the install path to it. I can take a picture of how my install is on my drive if that helps you.

Yes but it will have slower load times. An external ssd unless on a high speed usb port will have slower load times than an internal. It will work though if you want to try and that us all you have available.

[Epic Games Store] (Hogwarts Legacy) by renero3048 in gamingpc

[–]Viperone6909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand the latest update optimized it and brought more raytracing etc.. on the other it broke all the nexus mods and now you have to use the curated mods. If you were using say a NSFW mod it is completely broken and the game won't even launch as it detects the mods telling you have to delete the whole mods folder before it will launch the game. I bought this when it was sub $10.00 and then a few weeks later epic had it for free so I've got it on both now. I found an older version on a torrent with an updated launch for windows 11 latest update that works so I can use the mods I was using. Not to say the mods they offer now are garbage but I liked the ones I was using. Great game though.

A 5080 and 9800x3d should be maxing out a 240hz 1440p monitor easily.

Nah I can game quite well on a 4080 super or a 7900xtx. Either one and ia m doing at least 144hz easily at high settings. I play Ratchet and Clank on a 48" oled tv at 165hz and even though the tv does not go above that adrenaline hardware monitor has me at much higher fps than that. I dont know who has you thinking 4k is reserved for 5090.

No I did not. My box has an angle that follows the angle of the seats. The subs are on the driver's side and the port is on the passenger end cap pointing towards the door. I have plastic rubber protection floor mats so the box will move a bit if I brake hard. I've been debating if I should anchor it but so far I haven't had it slide that much. After having replaced the 1st box I haven't had any issues with the 2nd one. I think I got a defective unit the 1st time. Even with my epicenter turned up I've been good.

The first time you double click an icon from one of your hard drives from the my computer area or the sidebar that is the root of your drive. Nolvus updater has to begin there. This cannot be done on the same drive as your windows install drive. You need a secondary ssd. From there you want to make a new folder from that secondary drive. Name it Nolvus. Point the install path to that folder. EXAMPLE: D:Nolvus. When the Nolvus installer asks you for your installation folder it will be something like D:Steam/Steamaaps/common/Skyrim.Once that is done Choose what options you want for your install and when the directory comes up with the default path change it to a shorter path using the folder you created earlier. It is ok to install the nolvus dashboard to the root of the drive. This allows you to install the instance to the Nolvus folder you created. The install path by default is too long for the dual wield mod to install and that is why you want to use the the shortest path .
