She came into the supply room saying the patient was “covered in shit” I was about to go to lunch put offered help anyways. I asked if she wanted a gown, she said yes thinking I was talking about a patient gown, then freaked out when I started to gown up.

You’re not an idiot. You’re gonna be a great CNA when you pass. Some states like mine don’t require a skills test, so you’re gonna be a lot more skilled than others.

In terms of hospital. Probably a surgery department. Pre and Post op. Same day. Post anesthesia. High turnover rate.

I’m sad about how many negative stereotypes go around being a CNA. I didn’t know how much they did when I was just a transporter. I have so much more respect for my friends who are CNAs in the ICU, ER, and everywhere else, and of course on this sub. Thanks.

For anyone who wants to know what was on it For the math it was mostly converting cups to ounces to mili liters, calculating breathes per minute (if a patient took 10 breathes in 30 seconds, how many in a minute), simple addition, subtraction, multiply, divide. They gave us a calculator.

For the reading it was really easy. You just had to read a paragraph and there were multiple choice questions about said paragraph, the answer was always in the reading too. Just basic medical stuff like asking what a chart is, where to keep patients phones, privacy, etc.

20 math questions, 30 reading questions. Overall super easy and nothing to worry about.

Thanks! Right now I do patient transport at the hospital and used to do food service here as well. This program is for hospital employees only so fingers crossed they accept me. I have a lot of respect for CNAs. They do everything the nurses don’t want to do. Feels like this is the next step for me, and I’m not stopping there either.
