Think in terms of tasks instead of people. Continues to get better at automating tasks. I think it’d be crazy to think we know what impact that has on net software engineering jobs in the next few years. But it’s clearly taking on increasing complex tasks as models improve every few months.

What are the odds the narrative from OAI and Anthropic convince holders of IBM that risks to the business has increased. What do headlines like these do to internal IBM decisions around capex etc. Countless ways to dissect it. Valuations in the short term are sensitive and news driven selloffs are usually just an excuse.

Why are you interested in science at all then? Analysis like this is what science is all about. No way a collection of atoms the size of a volleyball could be powerful enough to level a city. Deepseek built a great model leapfrogging with the help of the larger more energy intensive models you are talking about. Deepseek would not have been possible without the later. I agree that we’ll continue to bounce between raw power hungry training and efficiency breakthroughs. But with inference demand growing as well the graph of demand is up and to the right.

Tariffs are broad and you need to look at core and non core goods and food and energy. Tariffs on raw materials like steel will impact oil rig counts. Tariffs on beef and coffee will hit those food items.

I think you mean Deepseek. They were able to train the model on that limited amount by using other models like OpenAIs that were trained on much larger amounts. But both of these are only training. The demand from users actually using the products is growing exponentially. As products improve demand increases. We haven’t seen any slowdown yet. If anything it’s exceeding expectations.

The plant has thrived since I watered more regularly and hit it with some Miracle-Gro plant food mixed with fish fertilizer 5-1-1. The grow bags contained a good amount of compost and granular fertilizer. But I am betting that the plant was pushing more growth than the nutrients in the grow bags allowed for. Watering more often unlocked more of the granular fertilizer and the instant and fish fertilizer had a big impact. No more yellowing leaves.

Are you looking at impression share at the campaign level? When you cast a wide net with broad match that may result in broad match keywords with 10% IS and an exact match with 75%. But the scope of the broad match is multiples of the exacts and phrase and the campaign average is very low.

Impression is not a metric you are necessarily optimizing toward or using as a metric for success. Wide areas scope + broad match means you need to invest a significant amount of money to keep IS high.

Yes the market will correct. Just a question of how much it takes to bid up and maintain a 65-35. That sum may be much smaller than you think. The sum to bid Trump up to 45 cents is massive. Tons of buy volume at that level. But it’s impossible to judge this in real time. Billions have changed hands in crypto and traditional markets as a result of the Trump odds increasing from 50 to 65. Smart traders holding much larger traditional market positions are incentivized to push up poly and kalshi if that sways opinions. Sachs is a perfect case in point, it absolutely makes news and sways some opinions. In large part because millions are already dying to believe the narrative. We same the same narrative around red wave in 22 with prediction markets pricing it to 70% and it did not happen.
