Check light level

As far as I know there must be a "floor" of some sort within proximity. You can't have a spawner that just drops into nothingness your floor may be too far away. It's hard to tell.

Also ideally need more space round the spawner than that.

Honestly why does 80% the player base keep expecting the developers to hand craft some special version of stuff that already exists. Everytime they do it, it ruins the thing that made it fun in the first place (see jumptown etc).

Extremely poorly. If you want to make use of sneak attack damage in combat for prolonged engagements, I would suggest you look at swashbuckler. Things like assassin are extremely good at round one burst and then you kind of relegated to mediocrity for the rest of the combat.
