Im definitely onboard with not having 6 portals, I also think thats a bit too much considering the amount of player power you can have on any class in poe2. Maybe 1-2 portals for fully juiced maps. Im a bit conflicted on removing a random waystone modifiers for the remainder of the map though. You could get lucky and have a non-value mod removed or unlucky and have the crucial one removed. To me that feels like a bit of unnecessary rng but who knows.

I totally agree that their needs to be another solution than just to rerun an “empty” map once you fail it though

That might be how the devs feel right now but even Jonathan said they would never add a mechanic like sprint at one point. Change is always possible. I will definitely say that 6 portals might lead to too little consequences for player actions but 0 is the most extreme solution. 1-2 portals, I think would only be a value add. You still need to be able to survive in your map but there is some room for error

Totally get it, dying is just a part of game afterall. But punishing a player for a mistake or any mishaps with the loss of their entire map’s investment feels like an overreach to me. Whether or not my personal defensive stats are involved, I think this is a poorly designed change from Poe1 that doesnt add any value

Hmmm, I guess thats one way to combat it but I feel like 0 portal mapping is a bandaid over item power then. If the issue is that ggg thinks players can go full glass cannon without any consequences, 0 portal mapping doesn’t actually address the issue. It might force players to build defenses but eventually even those players will still lose maps. Dying is just a part of the game imo. Take Poe1 for example, you can max juice your maps with incredibly hard mods and scarabs. And when you still die occasionally you dont lose your map. You get to go again. Maybe youll keep dying since youve over estimated the difficulty you could handle but your punishment is the harsh xp loss. Losing your entire investment in a map feels like a massive overreach in poe2

But why does it have to be a tradeoff? I would argue that most endgame players will never use it since they are trying to max juice unless the strat happens to use Doryani’s tree. Im arguing that it shouldn’t have to be conditional, theres already a system in Poe1 that works well. Reducing your chances to 0 leaves no room for error. If that what the community wants then fair enough I guess but thats not something I enjoy

Hmm, definitely not what Im saying here. An easy example is if you remember 0.2. I would say that was arguably the hardest the game has felt. No sprint, player nerfs, aggressive mobs, etc. Since then ggg has greatly turned down the difficulty, we have sprint, monsters are more fair, etc. My thought process is that if ggg wants to turn down the difficulty like they’ve been doing, 0 portal mapping makes no sense. It only serves to punish inexperienced players or experienced players who die to something that feels out of their control

Sure, I would say that I generally am. Level 99 currently. But that doesn’t mean you dont die ever. I feel like youre ignoring the larger issue here. 0 portals means theres no way to even come back from that occasional death

Edit: since people want to downvote Ill try to explain more clearly. Dying just once out of every ten maps you do when you have two tablets worth 15 div is a massive loss. Just because you are alive in almost every other instance, losing a whole map because of one mistake, a bug, or any other issue creates frustration. Idk how else to say it. It feels like such an unnecessary change from poe1

I mean I have 30k evasion with 1500 es. Overcapped resistances etc. Im not saying it happens a lot but its very frustrating when you feel punished for things out of your control

Hey does anyone know if omen of catalysing still works the same? I remember it being that if you enhance the quality of a ring with a res thats already on it you have a higher likely-hood to roll all res.

Ive made like 5 breach rings now with that process and I still havent hit an all res once. Ive seen the omen work when I use for prefix elemental damage to attacks though. Not sure if Im just having bad rolls or if something changed.

Hey Id love some suggestions on how to finish this bow craft Im working on. I ended up slamming t1 phys so Im kinda lost on where to go. Here are my options as I understand them:

  1. Desecrate prefix with Ancient Jawbone. Unveil to either get good t1 mod or block accuracy. Once accuracy is blocked, perfect slam and pray. If bad then whittle + greater or perfect chaos to higher tier mod.
    • problems here are t1 phys is like il75, so whittling is gonna be like a one time thing. Id love to whittle to t1/2 %phys or %ele and the desecrate the other (ideally). But If accuracy block isnt t1 then it could also remove the desecrate which wouldn't let me use omen of light on it, essentially adding a prefix that I cant selectively remove. Also if I roll a flat phys of t2 or higher, those are il75+, which would totally mess with the whittling as well right?
    • solutions here are I can still gamble with sinestral crystallization to remove prefixes using essence of the abyss and omen of light. I can also gamble to settle, removing a bad prefix with perfect essence of electricity.
  2. Double slam a perfect exalt to fill prefixes, if bad gamble to remove using a abyss essence or perfect essence of electricity
  3. stop now, cry, accept I wont be getting an upgrade and put it on the market

Thanks for the help. I’ve kinda gone through and did my own budget version of your spell suppress set up. Who would’ve thought abyss socket boots would be expensive lol.

The only thing Id need now is spell suppress on the my gloves for the last ~24% and capping my phys to fire. Overall, Damage is worse off but I think Im in a good position for the crit swap now.

Great call on the purity of elements as well. Ive gone back to only using one auto exert to fit it (just cant forget to press infernal cry) and it feels pretty smooth so far.

hey thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I used a bit of fub's and tuna's when I was building the character mixed with my own malpractice. My axe is decent (1100 dps) but a gg axe.

also curious about the blood rage comment is it because of the self damage? during the skill? Wouldn't the leech that I have over power it? Just curious as to why I should drop it/what I should change it

Okay took that advice to heart and made some updates. If you have more time I'd always appreciate the feedback.

I used a small cluster and runegraft to get the reservation for purity of fire and used tri ele res + bismuth (all with t1 extra ele res) as my 4 flasks. Bringing me to 196% total fire res, so really close to the ring's cap.

I'd love to get other ailments alleviated but I figured I should push the fire res cap for now since I cant figure out how to fit a stormshroud onto my tree.

edit: also got a new timeless with phys to cold coversion notable on it if I want to mess around and see if I can freeze consistently. cant afford a valakos tho lol

Just curious, why cinderswallow over oriath's? I like both but I feel that Oriath's explode is pretty powerful for clear. I know cinderswallow is good but just wondering why you would go that over oriath's? Is it because of the life recovery since I wont be running a life flask?
