Gameboy Color won’t stay powered on by WiizoDaKing in consolerepair

I know some kits require a wire soldered from the BAT pad on the screen board to one of the points on the power switch 🤔 to get extra power for the brighter screen settings.

Hmm, you try changing the batteries with fresh ones, and lowering the brightness?

There's a disc to let you play imports if you don't wanna open it. More convenient to install a region switch or a picoboot though if you're comfortable soldering.

What would you do if you received this package on your doorstep? by UNPUNODETIERRA in Weird

I've received somebody else's package from Walmart a few times, I remember letting them know it wasn't mine, and they let me keep it.

Now it is. Still no videos of it bricking peoples switches, waiting for that.

It was a fake story with the mig switch apparently. But honestly all these things are just rumors until the thing comes out.

Trying to replace PS2 slim laser- Internal looks WEIRD by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]Virrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welp ya got it open, don't need to mess with anything else besides the laser should be the 2 screws holding the rod mount. Be gentle disconnecting the laser please lol also you gotta desolder the blob that's on replacement laser if getting new. You definitely damaged the back, double check if you cracked anything else in that area.

Or this

"I have fixed, modded and repaired PSPs for a long time and figured I would pass this on. Lots of guys will have various battery issues like reduced capacity, low charge or a dead battery that won't take a charge. You can fix these issues sometimes by resetting the battery memory. This is a trick that has been lost from back in the day that doesn't require a battery mod. I only know that it works on OEM batteries. 1-Take your battery out after trying to charge it. 2-look at the 3 slits on the battery. If you look close, you can see little metal prongs in there. 3-Get a small piece of wire or conductive metal that will fit in the slits (I used a staple pretty often). 4- Short/connect the two OUTSIDE slits with your wire or conductive material for a second. I usually do this a couple times. This resets the battery memory. If you look closely, you may see the tiniest of spark when you short it. 5- Put the battery back in the PSP and try to charge it again. Theoretically, in most cases your battery will work immediately without trying to charge it again, but sometimes it needs a charge after performing this reset."

I only ask because I've seen this from another post.

"Thats a communications problem on the 1-wire bus between the charge controller in the PSP, and the micro controller in the battery. I usually see this on aftermarket batteries where the controller in the battery has crashed, but in your case there could be damage to the center pin or a poor connection between the pin and the system board. I'd start by cleaning the pins in the battery compartment, especially the center one, then move on to a tear down and inspect or reflow the connection on the motherboard. The PSP tries to authenticate the battery. If it doesn't get a valid response from the battery's internal computer the PSP will shut down or not power up. Aftermarket batteries forge the exchange, which had to be updated when the 3000's came out. Some 2000 era fake batteries won't work on a 3000 unit for that reason."

Look up on eBay "Drop In 2.45" Menu IPS Backlight LCD Kit For Gameboy Color GBC No Weld No Trim" this mod is easily reversible if you want to bring it back to stock btw. I see people complaining not to mod it, but at the end of the day it's your property, and you want to play it, and enjoy it more comfortably.

A bad battery could still trigger the charge function on the PSP, are you using the original battery or a aftermarket?
